SUMMARY:
Join our team as a Social Worker in the Family Preservation Program, where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the health and unity of San Francisco families involved with Family and Children’s Services. This entry-level position, focusing on community social work, involves responsibilities such as home-based parenting support, referrals to community resources, and collaboration with various service providers.   Your success as you step into this new role matters to us. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build rapport, provide counseling, and engage families in the privacy of their homes.
• Offer hands-on parenting guidance, positive/corrective feedback, and effective problem-solving techniques.
• Implement parenting education in Health, Home Safety, and Parent-Child Interaction (SafeCare).
• Conduct assessments, including developmental screenings for children aged 0-5.
• Provide case management services, assisting parents in accessing and connecting to community resources.
• Obtain and maintain national certification as a SafeCare® Provider, CPR, and First Aid Certification.
• Maintain timely and thorough case records, entering data into a centralized database.
• Participate in training, receive coaching/supervision feedback, and engage in team activities, including shadowing and home visits.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Social Sciences).
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in motivational interviewing.
• Experience or willingness to provide hands-on, intensive, home-based services for families and children dealing with child abuse, neglect, trauma, and substance abuse.
• Comfort and respect interacting with diverse communities and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Maturity, tolerance, friendliness, warmth, understanding, and sensitivity to the needs of high-risk families.
• Flexibility to work some evening and/or weekend hours.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications (Word, Excel, etc.). 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to receive clearance through a fingerprint/background check (criminal and child abuse).
• Possession of a valid California driver's license, a clear DMV record, current automobile registration, and an insured automobile in good working condition.
• Vaccination for COVID-19 required.  

SALARY:
The starting salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 per year DOE.   Family Support Services also offers excellent benefits: Employer-paid Health, dental, life insurance, and longterm disability.
