Family Law Paralegal - Part-time (20 hours/week), REMOTE
Must be willing to work in Pacific Time Zone.
We are in search of a part-time Family Law Paralegal to support our attorney-client. The paralegal needs an understanding of Discovery (Family) and should know how to review the Discovery for completeness and accuracy. Should also be familiar with handling Financial Declaration documents and Marital Balance sheets. Attention to detail is a must. An ability to look at the firm calendar and prioritize one's own tasks is a must. Compile all info so the attorney can evaluate. Share ideas for uncovering other info for Discovery in a case. Be efficient and be proactive. The ability to stay focused and move tasks to completion. Anticipate what's next. Don't wait around for direction.
Our ideal candidate has an associate degree in paralegal studies and experience with family and divorce law. You also need to have excellent research and communication skills.
Family Law Paralegal Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare various documents for the attorney
- Track deadlines and monitor tasks due in Mycase
- Alert the attorney about upcoming deadlines so that nothing is missed
- Research family and divorce law cases
- Help the attorney prepare for hearings and trials
- Constantly seek the opportunity to offer help (proactivity is a must!)
Family Law Paralegal Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate degree in paralegal studies (years of experience in Family Law will be considered)
- REQUIRED: 3+ years experience working as a paralegal in a family and divorce law firm
- Strong communication abilities
- Skilled in research
- REQUIRED: Experience working in Mycase
- REQUIRED: 3+ years experience working in Excel (for handling Marital Balance Sheets)
- E-filing experience
