JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Manager will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of critical infrastructure in the Biorepository. They will ensure all equipment is operating correctly, properly maintained, tested, calibrated, and validated (e.g. freezers, LN2 tanks, HVAC, generator, BMS, IT systems, coms infrastructure etc.). They will also be responsible for maintaining contracts with facilities maintenance companies to ensure repairs and preventative maintenance are completed on time in full. In addition, they will also be responsible for general maintenance and repairs throughout the Biorepository.
Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ensure equipment calibration and validation schedules are maintained
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment
- Ensure that adequate, accurate documentation for all procedures is maintained
- Ensure proper maintenance of all major equipment (including, but not limited to generators, HVAC, air handling, BMS, temperature monitoring and security systems)
- Ensure all mechanical refrigeration units are maintained and all LN2 vessels are checked daily and filled appropriately
- Line management responsibility for Facilities Technicians as required
- Manage all third-party contractors, when on site
- Participate in the management of all maintenance contracts, utilizing cost control practices where applicable
- Take an active role in the site "On-Call" requirements – responding to all alarms, including out-of-hours (24/7 on a rotating cycle with other team members)
- Act as a site Keyholder
- Assist, when required, with daily local deliveries and the driving of company vehicle
- General maintenance and repairs around the site
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental statutory, regulatory and company regulations
- Ensure all changes to safety legislation are incorporated and implemented within the framework of the Site Health & Safety Policy
- Carry out all duties in compliance with required quality and GMP standards
- Undertake any other additional duties as requested by the Operations Manager
- Participate in client audits and facility presentations as required
This position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary, to ensure cryorepository operation quality and service standards.

- Working knowledge of cryogenic gas storage & distribution systems (desirable)

Qualifications
- At least 2 years' experience as a Facilities Technician/manager or in a similar role
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or experience
- Frequently required to type, sit, stand, walk, lift/carry up to 50lbs. Occasionally required to push/roll 280kg lb liquid nitrogen dewars and 4-500kg freezers (with support), and work from a platform ladder
- Controlled environment storage and distribution operations experience
- Health, Safety and Environmental operations experience; Health, Safety & Environmental certification highly desirable (eg OSHA)
- Project management experience (desirable)
- Experience with contract management and budgetary control
- Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams to meet goals and metrics
Training Scope
- Position requires minimally Read Only training in all applicable Cryorepository Operations SOPs, OJT for all transportation/delivery related SOPs (see training plan).
- Employee must be qualified in equipment installation procedures prior to independent execution.
Other Requirements
Position may require use of hazardous chemicals and materials, including liquid nitrogen, dry ice, human tissue and body fluids, such as blood. Handling of human specimens may result in possible blood borne pathogen exposure. CRYOGENE has specific safety methods to reduce employee exposure to hazardous agents.
