esponsible for the Volunteer Services provided to UnityPoint Health - Des Moines (UPH-DM, which includes Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital (ILH), Blank Children's Hospital, Methodist West Hospital and John Stoddard Cancer Center. This position ensures that quality Volunteer Services are provided to patients and family, staff and community members. The Executive Director interprets Volunteer Services to the hospitals and is able to relate the hospitals' services, goals and objectives to volunteers, maintaining a cooperative and consultative relationship between the hospitals and volunteers. The Executive Director is the primary staff and contact for the ILH Auxiliary, helping to guide their plans to support the hospital's mission. The Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for the Not New Shop (thrift Store), located near the ILH campus. The result of successful performance in this position is highly motivated and effective volunteers, group, Volunteer Services team and thrift store team, which helps UPH-DM achieve its mission to Improve the health of the people and communities we serve.

Responsibilities
- Leads teams in visioning for the future.
- Effectively manages Volunteer Services staff located on three campuses.
- Develops, monitors and controls Volunteer Services
- Recruits, interviews, selects, manages, evaluates and supports volunteers throughout the hospitals, including off site locations.
- Cultivates warm, friendly atmosphere and fosters positive relations for volunteers in the community and the hospitals.
- Cultivates volunteers' interests in philanthropic needs of UPH-DM.
- Develops a hospital culture of valuing and including volunteers in as many aspects of UPH-DM as possible.
- Holds Volunteer Services staff accountable for efficient and effective goal creation and completion.
- Works closely with the Volunteer Service Leadership Groups
- Provides leadership and support for the ILH Auxiliary Board, attends and takes on leadership roles in all board meetings and auxiliary led initiatives.
- Works closely with the UPH-DM Employee Volunteer Program
- Establishes and maintains appropriate policies, procedures, job descriptions and performance standards within the department for volunteers as well as Volunteer Services staff.
- Assesses the needs of the hospitals for appropriate placement of volunteers
- Develops ongoing relationships with staff throughout the hospitals in order to develop and coordinate volunteer programs to obtain desired results.
- Provides leadership and oversight for the Not New Shop (thrift store), its staff and volunteers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Preferred or Specialized
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
Experience:
• Administrative or supervisory/management experience required.
• Experience as community volunteer required, including experience working with volunteer leaders.
• Experience working with all generations.
• Computer experience required.
• Volunteer Management experience preferred.
• Experience with multiple locations and diverse volunteer groups preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s):
• Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Exceptional writing and communications skills essential.
Other:
• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the
position.
