The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth Nicholson Center
The role you'll contribute:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Research Enterprise, serves as Executive Director of the AdventHealth Nicholson Center (AHNC). The Executive Director is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Nicholson Center which includes management of the related resources to meet the needs of our clients. This position provides executive oversight to the development of the overall strategic direction and plans for the AHNC to meet or exceed goals, as approved by the VP of Research Enterprise. Provides executive direction to ensure an efficient and effective operations, focused on AHNC's status as a global center of excellence. This position has oversight of the development of high-quality, cost-efficient programs and services within the AHNC to achieve Connected, Wholistic, Affordable, Viable, and Exceptional care to consumers. Provides support to the Acute Care Services and Integrated Health Services business units. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Ensures that all employees are aligned with the organization's mission and vision, through positive leadership.

• Ensures that contracts with Corporate partners are secured to off-set capital and operational expenses' needs and/or develop mutually beneficial relationships.
• Ensures fund-raising plans are executed.
• Develops and executes the annual strategic business goals, including new growth in all service lines
• Actively promotes AdventHeatlh's mission by accepting speaking invitations, teaching, providing input to articles/publishing research results. Plans, resources, and supports booths and seminars at training and education conferences and workshops.
• Continually assesses opportunities for improvement in all aspects of education and training technologies. Identifies and incorporates new technologies into existing training environments.
• Builds budget plans that align to hospital strategic priorities, forecasts operational and capital funds, and justifies/defends all the education and training support budgets and strategic initiative requests during the annual Strategy and Budget Planning Process.
• Ensures integration of current research/literature and industry best practice in all education and training activities. Is an expert in, and maintains current knowledge of, industry standards and best practice for surgical training, education, curriculum design and simulated learning.
• Effectively leads and grows AHNC's core business lines (Industry Training, Education, Research and Development, and Prototype Lab), to ensure viability within the surgical training industry.
Ensures compliance to all Federal, State and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations as they apply to the wet labs and ensures that all AHNC staff are knowledgeable of regulatory requirements as they apply to their roles.
• IACUC Executive Chairman oversight ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and guidelines, maintains proper licenses, accreditations for AHNC veterinarian services. Develops IACUC SOP's, directs IACUC meetings and ensures compliance with all protocol and USDA guidelines.
• Executive oversight of the strategic Willed Body Donor program. Works directly with all donor sources, negotiates contracts and ensures proper and timely receipt of tissue. Maintains compliance with state anatomical board and all other related regulatory agencies.
• Leads the department's budget process, including planning, programming, budgeting and execution of multiple teams and cost centers
• Executive oversight and management of annual operating budget. Alignment of the strategic business plan to the operating budget.
• Ensures that all departments within scope of practice operate within allocated budget.
• Implements appropriate tracking systems for success measures and reports on these as required
• Develops and executes strategic plan to grow existing profitable business and develops new profitable business lines.
• Develops strategic plans for international licensing opportunities, which allow for the expansion of the Nicholson Center services and curriculums worldwide. Responsible for growing the global footprint of the Nicholson Center.
• Effectively scans the industry for new start-up robotic surgery companies, to provide pre-FDA clinical studies
• Executes the prototype lab and intellectual property strategic plan by demonstrating and creating value within all existing and future client relationships. Add additional value by scanning the market for industry and federal grant opportunities for device development
• Develops strategic relationships in the system, local community and across the national and international education and training community, including hospital industry, vendors, government, military, and academia. Partners appropriately on all aspects of education, training and simulation learning including curriculum development, education space and research.
• Acts as a change agent, utilizing change theory to plan for the implementation of organizational change. Chairs and supports key committees as needed.
• Ensures AHNC's performance meets/exceeds goals of each participating FH campus.
• Performs formalized and informal surveillance to assess relationships and group satisfaction.
• Ability to mobilize teams and levels of leadership to achieve business strategic objectives with reportable and visible results using the hospital adopted Performance Improvement process.
• Leads discussion and manages the workforce planning and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce, interprets and evaluates employee satisfaction and quality of work surveys, taking action as needed to ensure a positive outcome.
• Oversees overall staffing for assigned area. Ensures staffing is effective and efficient, and promotes core values. Assures that staff is representative of the population diversity through oversight of recruitment, selection and retention of personnel. Ensures that staff are actively engaged in decisions within their scope of practice.
• Plans and develops a complete succession plan for rollup up to and including own position. Identifies high performing staff and works with Leadership Development and Talent Management to groom staff to meet succession plan timelines and curriculum. Actively mentors others into the leadership roles throughout the timeline. Reviews succession plan at least annually and during performance review period
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Services Administration
• Minimum of ten (10) years of healthcare functional experience
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a leadership position in the healthcare industry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Experience with development and operations of a multi-specialty medical training and education and research center
• Product and procedure development with industry and physicians
• Surgical environment experience
• Medical simulation development experience
• Medical sales experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED :
• Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
