A nonprofit working to empower families is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead its team!

WHAT WE DO

Parents who want a better life for their child deserve access to the education, coaching and support needed to become a positive force in that child's educational and life success. Until all parents, regardless of economic circumstances, are empowered to be their child's first and most influential teacher, Parent Possible's work is not done.

We promote and oversee delivery of three proven parent engagement programs- PAT, HIPPY and Vroom- providing access and support, ensuring efficacy and impact, advocating, and collaborating with partners across the state and serving as a liaison between national leaders and local program implementers.

Parent Possible promotes and supports evidence-based, high-quality programs focused on parents of children from birth through kindergarten. Each program seeks to engage parents where they are inspiring parent involvement, facilitating school readiness, and strengthening opportunities for children to achieve their full potential.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Executive Director is responsible for providing overall leadership of Parent Possible and its programs, ensuring consistent achievement of the organization's mission, implementation of its policies, goals, and objectives, and all aspects of fund development and stewardship, short-and long-term strategic planning, advocacy, collaborative partnerships/strategic positioning, assurance of program quality and fidelity, supervision of staff, and management of day-to-day organizational functioning and operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Leadership and Strategic Positioning

  • Providing leadership and vision for the implementation of the organization's strategic plan and mission.
  • Maintaining a high profile for Parent Possible within its local, statewide, and national constituencies, including funders, policy-makers, government leaders, and other nonprofit organizations.
  • Initiating and encouraging collaboration with foundations, organizations, and leaders in the field of early childhood, parent education, and home visiting.
  • Creating and maintaining a strong, inclusive, and effective culture in keeping with the organization's principles and beliefs.Serving as the organization's primary spokesperson and advocating to increase visibility and enhance the organization's reputation and standing, including speaking at local, state, and national events; serving on boards and committees; and communicating regularly with community leaders, funders, and other stakeholders.

Operations

  • Ensuring that the day-to-day operations and programs are professionally and efficiently administered, overseeing the work of staff, instituting best practices and developing and implementing systems and procedures for the organization.
  • Developing, motivating, managing, and leading a high-performance staff capable of effectively implementing the organization's programs and operations.
  • Developing and overseeing the organizational budget that includes an accurate, realistic forecasting of revenues and expenses.
  • Effectively managing the organization's resources, operating with a balanced budget and employing sound fiscal planning, controls and management; ensuring that audits are smoothly executed, authorizing major expenses, and maintaining an efficient set of financial core processes, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Leading and executing resource development efforts in conjunction with the Development Director, focusing on short- and long-term strategy, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Evaluating organizational growth opportunities and providing strategic recommendations to the Board for future program goals and direction.
  • Serving in a leadership role with the national offices of the models advanced by Parent Possible.

Board

  • Maintaining a strong partnership with the Board of Directors, working to build consensus and commitment to the vision and mission of Parent Possible, developing a unified voice for the organization, and making necessary updates to our current Strategic Plan.
  • Participating in the development and support of a high-performing Board of Directors charged with providing guidance, supporting fundraising goals, and increasing networks for Parent Possible's efforts throughout the state.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
  • Bachelor's degree, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years in a senior level management or leadership position in a nonprofit organization or governmental entity.
  • Proven effective performance in establishing and growing beneficial relationships and partnerships with Boards of Directors, funders, community representatives, government officials, potential program partners, and other appropriate leaders, including in fund development.
  • Experience working with boards, including demonstrated organizational, operational, and financial acumen and the ability to communicate accurate and timely information to key stakeholders.
  • Experience in community development including securing foundation grants and other private resources.
  • Experience and capability in government relations and policy/advocacy.
  • Knowledge and experience with organizational budgeting, strategic planning, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements for nonprofit organizations.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements of governmental grants.
  • Proven effectiveness in organizational and team leadership, staff development and strategic growth.
  • Commitment to furthering parent empowerment and early childhood education.
WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING
  • Starting salary range is $140,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience.
  • This is a salaried, full-time position with an excellent benefits package, including employer-paid health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and IRA with 3% employer match from date of hire. Parent Possible also offers paid time off and paid parental leave, and a paid holiday office closure from December 24th to January 1st.
