Summary
As the world's leading venue management company and producer of live event experiences, ASM Global is the preeminent management and content partner with over 350 venues worldwide. The Equestrian Center is a unique 75-acre equestrian venue located in the heart of Griffith Park which serves both the public, on site boarders and a variety of equestrian/special events. We are seeking a skilled individual to lead our team as Executive Director. Responsible for overall management, promotion and operation of the facility including purchasing, booking, marketing, finance, human resources, food and beverage, barn management, advertising, security, production, tenant relations, maintenance and related operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain active contact with Client/Administrator. Maintains ASM Global compliance with all provisions of the services contract.
- Aggressively rebrand and promote the use of the venue based on mission set forth by Parks and Recreation which envisions the complex as a public destination for equine enthusiasts while maximizing utilization.
- Ability to work simultaneously with a broad variety of vested interest groups and to foster a cooperative environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principals and practices used in the successful management of like facilities with agricultural/equestrian type events and operations.
- Negotiate lease agreements as determined necessary and in the best interest of the facility.
- Re-engage the equestrian community both in house boarders and show promoters.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with event organizers, hosts, managers and others utilizing the venue. Seek out bid opportunities to bring events to facility.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Client/Contract Administrator, boards, tenants, government depts. And agencies, equine association (local, regional, national), community, in house and civic organizations to encourage continual and regular use of facilities.
- Assures the coordination, implementation and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by Corporate directives, to include matters of training/ development, quality assurance, energy efficiency, safety and emergency procedures, and crisis management needed
- Prioritize and define Capital Projects as the occur from time to time within the facility.
- Develop, share and implement facility goals with all subordinates in accordance with management contract, the client's objectives, corporate policy and good business practice creating a focused team with clear goals as related to the facility.
- Prepares required and necessary reports for Client/Contractor and Corporate Office
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all activities/personnel engaged in operation/maintenance of the facility.
- Assists and coordinates with the development of annual operating calendar allowing for facility use by tenants, special events and general public as it relates to facility assets.
- Conducts regular and effective meetings with staff, users as needed to ensure clear communication.
- Directs the development, administration and execution of all financial and operating reports including capital expenses, operating revenue, expense budgets etc.
- Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Minimum of five (5) years' industry experience with at least three (3) of those years in a management function of an arena, convention center or stadium; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Possess skills and experience in contract negotiation, business regulations, labor relations, union contracts, purchasing procedures, and supervising personnel.
- Engage in decision making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the practices and terminology of public relations programs, advertising, marketing and sales.
- Plan, coordinate and direct varied and complex administrative operations.
- Supervise and recognize human resource and personnel problems, deal constructively with conflict, supervise and motivate personnel, provide counsel on routine and sensitive personnel matters and execute applicable solutions.
- Respond to crowd control and/or crowd management situations in a prompt and decisive manner during crisis situations.
- Operate a personal computer using MS-DOS, Windows, Word, Excel and/or Lotus 1-2-3, and other standard office equipment.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
