THE ROLE

The Executive Director for Divisional IT& Clinical Engineering Operations South is accountable for driving local delivery of the Information Services strategy and roadmap, and within that strategy / roadmap own local technology service delivery within the South Division. With a focus on "Standardization", "Modernization" and "Innovation", the ED-DIT&CEO will be the senior Information Services operational leader embed in divisional clinical operations with a focus on driving service process standardization adoption, quality, and ongoing optimization. The ED DIT&CEO will partner with CTS Physical Service Delivery Service Line Leaders to inform service support strategies and drive adoption of operational support standards.

The ED DIT&CEO will lead local technology support teams including IT Field Services (desktop support) and Clinical Engineering (bio-medical engineering) to ensure technology service delivery meets the needs of ministry operations. The ED DIT&CEO will partner with senior executive leadership within divisional operations to ensure effective technology service delivery with a focus on ongoing optimization of the service delivery model. Additionally, with a focus on enterprise standardization, the ED DIT&CEO is responsible for communicating through Voice of the Field processes, service feedback into the broader technology team on technology effectiveness, technology issues impacting operations, technology issue prioritization, technology lifecycle, and/or other relevant topics as needed to ensure excellence in local service delivery.

In their role as the local owner for technology service delivery, the ED DIT&CEO will partner with key technology leaders across the enterprise technology team to manage delivery of enterprise technology initiatives that impact local operations. This will include managing resources within their team, or external vendor resources as needed, to ensure deliverables are met on a portfolio of enterprise projects that touch local operations. They will executive this work within the enterprise framework utilized by the Clinical Technology Services team. The teams led by the ED DIT&CEO will be the onsite "hands" for technology needs that can't be addressed remotely.

The Executive Director for Divisional IT & Clinical Engineering Operations will partner with divisional, service area and ministry operational leadership and other key service delivery roles, including leadership for Clinical Informatics, Solution Delivery, TEO, Admin Tech, Security, CRCA, Remote Service Delivery, CTS PMO and other roles as needed, to ensure a holistic view of the caregiver experience in working with technology is understood. Leveraging this view of the caregiver technology experience, the ED DIT&CEO will drive an ongoing program of service excellence, standardization adoption and ongoing optimization to ensure continuous improvement of service delivery. Success in maturing the enterprise service model will mean moving accountabilities and capabilities to the enterprise level where they have more scalability to support the broad footprint of Providence and lower cost.

The ED DIT&CEO will be accountable to operate within an enterprise framework for technology service delivery as set by the enterprise CIO. Where possible, the ED DIT&CEO will leverage system level tools, process, and technology as a preferred solution and will advocate for these system level approaches with division, service area and ministry leadership.

The Exec Director shall perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, the incumbent serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.
  • Operational Support Processes, Policy, and Procedures: In partnership with other ED DIT&CEO roles and PSD Service Line leadership, manage the adoption of the operational service delivery model across the local technology and medical device environment to include standards for processes, customer experience, service data quality and KPIs that will be used by all local service delivery teams. Establish reporting mechanisms to measure adherence to process, and work to drive continuous optimization.
  • Drive operational engagement with local clinical and operational teams through rounding and engagement in operational processes like monthly business reviews, safety huddles, and daily standup meetings. Leverage this engagement to better understand technical service issues and provide a local voice of the information Services teams for change impacting operations. Engage broadly across the IT team to ensure divisional, service area, and ministry operations understands the portfolio of coming IT projects. This will also include participating in division and enterprise governance processes to drive the current CTS strategy forward and be a voice into decision making to ensure divisional and CTS's view is understood. Note: This strategic roadmap is focused on the “as is” environment, new divisional needs will be served through the solutioning arm of the Information Services division.
  • Partner with key shared service and regional operations leaders to understand the divisional growth roadmap and ensure IT and Clinical Engineering are accounted for in the growth plan. Drive a capital investment plan that address this growth and lifecycle management for funding technical debt, especially in the Clinical Engineering environment, across the division.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technology Management, Business Management, Clinical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering, Information Services or related field; or equivalent educ/experience
  • Master's Degree in IS, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)
  • 10 or more years of related experience in technology service delivery, Clinical Engineering, bio-medical engineering, or a related field
  • 10 or more years of leadership experience, including at least 4 years experiencing in a role with a direct connection to senior executive leadership
  • Ability to rapidly summarize complex information and present to others
  • Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and data driven approach
  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively
  • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision, to lead, to inspire and develop staff
  • Ability to focus on the greater need and mission of the organization, making personal goals and ambitions secondary to the success of the organization
