The Executive Director role is to coordinate and execute planned activities, conferences, increase membership, build programming based on the Vision and Mission, leverage core association strengths, and maintain general operations. This is a contractor position that reports to the SOCAP Board of Directors. Primary responsibilities include:
LEADERSHIP
- Under the guidance of the Board of Directors, leads the day-to-day administration of the Association,
- Provides thought leadership to successfully guide future programs and projects that benefit members and the consumer relations industry
- Collaborating with the Chair, Treasurer and Directors on future visioning and the development and execution of strategic plan to achieve desired future state
MANAGEMENT
- Recruits, manages, evaluates, and terminates contractor personnel and temporary staff.
- Manages all third-party vendor relationships including financial, technology, legal and temporary vendors
- Collaborates with contractors and third-party vendors in the execution of their assignments to meet Association goals.
- Oversees project planning, membership, marketing, third party services
FINANCIAL
- Oversees the banking, credit card processing and record keeping functions
- Collaborates with Treasurer to provide financial reports to the Board
- Manages the budget for two conferences and several workshops annually
MEMBERSHIP
- Works with Board and Members to develop and implement member recruitment and retention strategies
- Works with the contracted staff and volunteers to proactively orient, connect and integrate new members into Association activities and culture
PROGRAMMING
- Guides committees, supports research and executes programs of value to members
- Supports the Business Partner Community (BPAC) to help them serve brand members and the Association effectively.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION
- Represents SOCAP in appropriate public, regional and national forums, and events to strengthen visibility and build membership.
- Focuses on marketing functions that build event attendance, brand awareness, and generate revenue
The ideal candidate will be an independent contractor who is an active, engaged leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, sound business acumen, customer service background, fiscal management expertise, and will use a strategic mindset to drive the future success of the association.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills to relate effectively with Chairman, Board of Directors, volunteers, staff, business partners, vendors and members of the Association.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing and developing tasks while following through on short- and long-term goals.
- 5+ years' experience as an Association executive/leader or executive management role in the customer care industry.
- Experience developing strategies for marketing/communications, future planning, and programming is essential.
- A proven track record of new member recruitment, engagement, and successful member retention programs.
- Previous board of director experience in public, trade association, private or non-profit entity.
- Experience in customer service, consumer engagement, contact center industry or support operations and technology for CX industry is important.
