Event Operations Intern

The Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) Internship serves as part of a high caliber team that plan and execute the region’s premier running events.

TCM is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that organizes 5 race events and with several distances throughout the year, including the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend. We provide opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and experiences to live an active, healthy lifestyle. Our mission is simple - ignite everyone’s inner athlete.

The Event Operations Intern position is available within the Race Operations department. The Intern position is responsible for warehouse support, day-to-day Event Operations, logistics planning and course notifications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and execution of certified/sanctioned TCM races as assigned
• Coordinate equipment and supply orders for events
• Assist in the permit application process with the city and state agencies
• Support office staff and race committee volunteers with inventory management and organization of materials and supplies before, during and after events
• Assist with development of the environmental services plan
• Support the Warehouse, Procurement & Events Logistics Coordinator with warehouse operations
• Assist in road closure postings and event notifications to businesses and residents along race routes
• Provide customer service to participants, sponsors and volunteers
• Support office staff and volunteers with various office projects and other administrative functions as required
• Commit to being trained as a knowledgeable and approachable TCM Ambassador at events, in the community and through requested outreach
• Additional intern responsibilities include:
  • Attending association meetings and event walk through meetings as requested

  • Lead designated area on race day
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Must display high attention to detail and be conscientious
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Able to prioritize and work in a busy, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

· Ability to regularly lift weights for events up to 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 40 lbs.

• Must be available to attend and work at TCM events, sometimes on weekends or in the evenings
• Excellent customer service skills (phone/email/in person)
• Desire to be a team player – working with staff, volunteers, and event participants

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday office hours, evening and weekend hours to be mutually agreed upon to support events and meetings

Hours Per Week: 15 hours per week; increase in hours as available for events and meetings

Compensation: $16/hour
