*This job is posted internally only for current Minnesota Judicial Branch employees. Join the Sixth Judicial District as a Court Operations Leadworker! The Sixth Judicial District seeks to fill a full-time Mobility Court Operations Leadworker position in St. Louis County Court Administration, located in Duluth, MN. This position is anticipated to work on civil, family, conciliation, child support, and probate case types, as well as jury. Assignment to case type will be determined based on business need.
This AFSCME-represented position performs the full range of lead and advanced Court Operations work under limited supervision of an assigned supervisor. Work also includes performing the full range of Court Operations work including case processing and advanced problem-solving responsibilities. This position is relied upon for their ability to lead and coordinate the work of others and resolve difficult, unique, and urgent case processing issues. Positions in this classification may serve as a supervisor in their absence.
Example of Duties
What You Will Do
The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:
  • Processing cases, performing advanced administrative work using an electronic case processing system and related applications and equipment.
  • Serving as first contact for troubleshooting problems and assisting staff with complex case processing, financial duties and customer service responsibilities.
  • Generating reports and reviewing work for accuracy and compliance; assisting staff with corrections.
  • Informing management of work progress and backlogs, and assisting staff in meeting performance standards.
  • Making day-to-day independent decisions on necessary adjustments to staff assignments based on coverage needs and workload priorities.
  • Drafting and maintaining procedural guides and training manuals.
  • Leading, coordinating and participating in team meetings and trainings.
  • Actively engage in committees, special projects/or initiatives and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Providing training, feedback and coaching on use of computer systems, case processing and court procedures.
  • Transmitting information between management and staff and overseeing all divisions in the supervisor's absence.
Working Conditions
Work is performed onsite primarily in an office setting or a courtroom. There will be frequent contact with the public, outside agencies, litigants, and attorneys at the counter, in the courtroom and on the telephone.

What You Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience as a Court Operations Associate or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
  • Paralegal or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with the court's electronic case processing system.

  • Considerable knowledge of court procedures and policies, laws, legal terminology, and legal factors pertaining to the court.
  • Ability to show a high degree of respect for all customers and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, needs, and experiences through courtesy and sensitivity.
  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer, including electronic case management system and related applications and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate and provide training and guidance for the daily work of other employees engaged in a variety of Court Operations activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying types and complexity and apply knowledge of specific laws, statutes, and rules related to the area of assignment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and files appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
