Role Purpose Statement
LSG Sky Chefs is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Intern to work in our Sanitation Department to join our team. As a Operations Intern in our Sanitation Department you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and sanitation within our catering facilities. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in food safety, public health, or related fields within the airline catering industry.
Main Accountabilities
- Work closely with our sanitation team to conduct regular inspections of food production areas, equipment, and storage facilities to ensure compliance with sanitation and hygiene standards.
- Help monitor sanitation practices throughout the facility, including cleaning procedures, sanitation equipment calibration, and pest control measures.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of sanitation inspections, corrective actions, and sanitation-related training activities.
- Support the implementation of sanitation training programs for employees, ensuring that all team members understand and adhere to proper sanitation protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of food safety and hygiene awareness among employees, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in food production.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations for improving sanitation processes, equipment, and facility layout to enhance efficiency and compliance with regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Pursuing a degree in Food Science, Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation principles, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and FDA regulations preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meticulously follow sanitation protocols and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and tasks as needed.
