About The Position
The WCC is looking for an Events Coordinator to support the Events Director in managing the WCC’s available space to serve the broad interests of our diverse clientele across a wide array of activities, including but not limited to nonprofit, business, civic, and arts & cultural life. The position is designed as an entry level position with the opportunity to take on additional responsibility and advance, if you so desire.
Along with the Events Director, the Events Coordinator is responsible for managing and facilitating events ongoing at the WCC while they are happening, stewarding them to successful departure and arrival, and ensuring the event spaces are clean and orderly before, after, and during events. The Events Coordinator’s typical duties will be to assist the Events Director on weekend evenings with the departure of Saturday and Sunday evening activities, and the closing duties of the venue.
Direct Responsibilities
- Meet clients at the end of their event to close out the event.
- Clean the event spaces (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, removing garbage).
- Clean and restock the bathrooms.
- Clean and restock the kitchen areas .
- Assist in ensuring clean linen for the next event.
- Perform perimeter walks ensuring overall site maintenance.
- Perform monthly and quarterly facilities cleaning when the events schedule allows.
Overall Responsibilities
Client Facilitation and Event Management
- Facilitate client use of spaces, tools, and knowledge, including event set up and take down, proactively and attentively responding to client needs, transition use of space from group to group, and mediating shared use of space among diverse clientele.
- Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping sensitive client, organizational, and partnership information confidential.
Maintain WCC Facilities, Grounds, and Resources
- Physical cleaning to maintain event spaces and facilities: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, windexing windows, and wiping down tables, chairs, and counters, in all rooms of the event spaces, and remainder of facility when schedule allows.
- Help keep WCC events resources stocked and ordered.
- Document maintenance needs to event spaces.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Be kind and patient in assisting clients from all backgrounds, while also being firm in managing clients’ expectations.
- Have 1-3 years of relevant experience such as event planning and management, hospitality/restaurant service, performing arts/technology experience, nonprofit or social service administration, church or community center work.
Working Conditions
- Part-time hourly, 8 hours per week minimum and on average.
- Based in Hamden, CT at 1253 Whitney Avenue
- Event weekend evening hours are necessary and non-negotiable.
- Must be able to lift 35-40 pounds regularly and be on your feet for long periods of time.
Compensation
- $25-30/hour.
- .5 hours of PTO accrued per 8 hours worked.
