About the Role:
The Estimate Manager will be estimating projects for three branch offices located in Salida, Windsor, and Denver, Colorado. Reporting to the Division Managers, the Estimate Manager is responsible for overseeing all the estimating operations and supervising the estimating process by developing divisional manpower, coaching, mentoring, providing input into project pursuit approvals, overseeing the allocation of estimating resources, reviewing estimates, and managing tender closings/pursuit submissions.
As an Estimate Manager at Moltz Construction Inc., you will:
- Complete project scope of work reviews to ensure completeness of estimates, and that all technical specifications, subcontractor scopes, and general condition items have been quantified and costed
- Identify and develop constructability requirements for orders of magnitude and high-level budgeting
- Propose and approve project risk and cost mitigation as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings
- Propose and approve potential bid strategies, constructability requirements, and advantages or innovations to increase bidding success
- Review and confirm labor and equipment productivities are based on historically correct values through analytics and other sources
- Lead the bid close of larger-sized or more complex projects
- Overseeing bid closings of mid to large projects led by team members
- Engage in subcontractor post-award scope clarification and negotiation
- Conduct market testing or benchmark costing to ensure estimates/budgets reflect current construction values
- Participate in the preparation of written proposals and pre-qualification documents and represent Moltz Construction Inc. in client interview settings
- Create a Value Engineering list with associated costs for the Division Manager's review
- Assess manpower planning and allocation throughout the estimate lifecycle, including operations personnel, where required
- Manage the Kick-Off Meeting and weekly strategy meetings, and chair any formal meetings for large complex projects, ensuring the estimating process will meet the milestone dates established
- Remain closely involved with the business development process, assuring potential projects and clients are tracked and monitored regularly
- Advise on selecting and inviting to tender trade partners that are assessed to be financially viable with adequate manpower and appropriate level of expertise to complete the work
- Build effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders (operations staff) that reflect and support Moltz Construction Inc.'s core values and brand image
- Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations
- Identify project-specific HSEQ risks and propose mitigation plans for these items in the estimate
Qualifications & Experience:
- Completion of a University (Bachelor) program is preferred
- Over 10 years of a combination of field and estimating experience with senior estimating experience of at least 3 years with a medium-to-large General Contractor
- Successful experience in leading large complex projects and managing and mentoring a small team
- Ability to collaborate with operations, different business units, internal and external clients, and stakeholders
- Proficiency in the use of Hard Dollar Bid, InEight Software, Timberline Estimating Software, MS Excel, scheduling software (ASTA Preferred), quantification software (such as OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Agtek), and BIM modeling is an asset
- Timely decision-making skills required to achieve the objectives and goals of the job
- Proficiency in conceptual estimating, benchmarking, market testing, and knowledge of analytics related to project pursuits
- Ability to identify and assess risk and opportunities (win strategy)
Compensation and Benefits:
