PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The Equipment Systems engineering team designs, builds, and verifies equipment that can both assemble and test product during each section of the manufacturing process. While ensuring the product meets all customer requirements, Equipment Systems engineers work to improve quality, reduce cost, and increase productivity. This is done by integrating platforms, equipment, machines, and systems to streamline the production process, enhance automation, improve the use of data, give greater management oversight and make production lines more efficient.
Equipment systems engineers are familiar with the equipment and systems necessary to complete all manufacturing operations and gain a deep understanding as they become more experienced. They have a higher degree of self-sufficiency than junior Equipment Systems engineers yet are still to learn from and support senior Equipment Systems engineers.
WORKING PROCEDURES:
- Complete projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement activities that drives equipment OEE
- Assist with designing new testers, fixtures, and test setups using 3D CAD mechanical and electrical software
- Experience with Soilidworkds, Altium, or similar preferred
- Lead technicians and maintenance personnel in the construction of new equipment
- Standardize and document equipment calibration processes
- Create software, reports, and data structures
- Advise other engineers on equipment and process questions and root-cause analysis
- Develop training material and implement/oversee test-related training of operators
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend solutions to equipment related issues
- Design and lead small to mid-scale software and equipment projects
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
- Frequent contact with other engineers, technicians, and operators.
DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
- May direct and mentor junior Equipment Systems engineers, technicians, operators, or maintenance personnel with the assistance of SWR’s, ECN/TDCN’s, and/or maintenance work request.
- Equipment systems engineers may supervise interns or co-op students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in relevant engineering field required.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities in all responsibilities required of Equipment Systems engineers.
