ROLE TITLE:      EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (12 MONTHS)

DEPARTMENT:  ENGINEERING MAINTENANCE

REPORTS TO:    SUPERVISOR, ENGINEERING MAINTENANCE

HOURS:                 ROTATIONAL SHIFT, 7:00 – 15:30, 15:00 -23:30 and 23:30-7:00

 

Reporting to the Supervisor - Engineering Maintenance for the Steinbach site this role will be accountable for assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment throughout the manufacturing facility.  Perform preventive and corrective general maintenance tasks and maintain the record for all the maintenance work that has been conducted

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble production and packaging equipment and complete installation utilizing equipment layout plans. Acts as technical liaison sourcing and placing orders for parts and supplies and ensuring that manufacturing equipment is fully maintained.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and maintain records compliant with cGMP guidelines.  Follow-up on irregularities or malfunctions of equipment operation.
  • Trouble shoots mechanical, electrical, electronics, pneumatic and hydraulic problems and maintains work area, materials, tools, and equipment to ensure serviceability, cleanliness, and safety. Electrical work can only be performed by qualified individuals, no electrical connections to be made by unqualified person.
  • Machine and fabricate parts during set-up, maintenance, or overhaul of manufacturing equipment or for building maintenance.
  • Ensure appropriate information concerning equipment operation and minor maintenance requirements is conveyed to manufacturing personnel on a timely basis.
  • Verify specifications on equipment and complete standardized documentation for installation and operation qualifications.
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the area of occupational health, safety, and wellness.

Education and Experience:

  • Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification is required
  • 3 years Industrial Mechanic experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Considerations will be made for Equipment Mechanics who do not currently hold a Certificate, but are committed to continuous learning and ongoing development
