Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:Management of the Hutson School of Agriculture Rudolph Equine Educational Center, including approximately 50 university-owned horses and student boarding operation.
- Coordinate and provide daily care of the horse herd.
- Provide first aid and maintain a preventative horse health management program.
- Maintain essential herd health records.
- Supervise student labor.
- Maintain essential records and information for students, employees, and boarders.
- Provide leadership for ongoing facility maintenance.
- Support equine faculty by providing sound, serviceable horses for classes and practices.
- Monitor and restrict the use of individual horses as required for equine welfare.
- Provide assistance with equine handling and training as requested.
- Assist with teaching classes and laboratories.
- Directly supervise the student boarding barn to ensure that horses and facilities are properly cared for.
- Management of the equine breeding program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal or Equine Science, Agriculture, or related field.
- Minimum of two years management experience with large animals. Additional college education may be exchanged year-for-year to meet qualifications.
