Technical Assistance Coordinator
Water Quality Division
This position is approximately 90% work from home and 10% in the field/office
Level Two: $50K - $60K
Level Three: $65K - $70K Grade: 21, 22

As an Environmental Science Specialist (Technical Assistance and Operation Certification) you will support the development of the Operator Outreach program and assist the Technical Assistance group with the capacity development of public water systems in the state. The outreach program is for educating Operators in Arizona on how to properly maintain and operate their water systems, and the capacity development program ensures all drinking water systems have the ability to maintain and operate their water systems.
This position is available for remote work within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Attending outreach events and representing ADEQ as a subject matter expert on the Operator Certification Program
Coordinating outreach events in a virtual and in-person format on a monthly basis
Preparing annual EPA reports
Continue to build our Technical Managerial, and Financial roadmap for public water systems
Strong communication skills required for dealing with multiple internal and external customers on a variety of technical and non-technical topics
All other duties as required

Knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations, environmental sciences and research, AZ sources of pollution, best practices for preventing the release of pollutants, environmental research, investigation techniques, statistical analysis, Agency policies, and processes,
Ability to understand and apply environmental rules and statutes; to follow guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and other technical instructions in the performance of tasks; to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports; and to summarize completed tasks and/or monitoring data orally and in written communication
Experience with outreach planning and coordination
Strong organizational skills and ability to schedule, conduct, and manage multiple projects at the same time
Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, Business Administration, Environmental Science/Management, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Sustainability, or Hydrology
Level 2: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field plus 2 years of relevant work experience.
Level 3: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field plus 5 years of relevant work experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience. A doctorate in a related field may substitute for four years of experience. Environmental Professional In-Training certification required through the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (https://gobgc.org/epi/) or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction is required
