Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Environmental engineer
Gila Geological Consultants, Ltd. is a privately held Geology, Hydrogeology, and Environmental Services Consulting firm based in Globe, Arizona with strong relationships with the international mining clients we have in the area. Our environmental and geology division is growing rapidly and we are seeking entry to mid-level geologists, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists and related disciplines to assist us in both managing and implementing the significant groundwater, surface water, and stormwater environmental monitoring programs that we are under contract to perform for our mining clients. In addition to our environmental programs, our group also provides a wide variety of other services including exploration and development of water supply wells, managing and executing mineral exploration programs, mine pit dewatering, remote control boat mine pit lake sampling and bathymetric surveying with our company built robotic boat and other related activities. However, our immediate need is to develop more depth of talent and a deeper bench to support our environmental monitoring programs. Our company is very “boots on the ground” focused and our professional staff and technicians spend quite a bit of time in the field both sampling and managing a large network of downhole instrumentation that keeps real time track of subsurface water conditions. Therefore, our ideal candidates will need to have the suitable knowledge and understanding of geology, hydrology and chemistry to ensure confident and accurate data collection and management, but also be able to learn, understand and potentially trouble shoot the downhole pumps and instrumentation that our clients utilize. And since we are a very field-oriented group, the candidate should be prepared to work outdoors in the range of weather, topography, and other conditions that are common in our arid southwestern environment. Finally, but very important, the candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, work well in a team environment and have fun with the work and their colleagues. Candidates that can demonstrate leadership and managerial skills will have the opportunity to advance in responsibility and position, which will be encouraged.
Some Candidate criteria that we consider desirable are:
- A minimum of a BA/BS in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, geohydrology, hydrology, environmental science or related engineering discipline
- Proficiency in computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, Database applications. Groundwater modeling and AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license is essential or capable of obtaining an Arizona Driver License. Site Specific health and safety and Mine Safety and Health Administration Training (MSHA) will be provided.
- The ability to use and understand field tablet computers and other devices which connect and download data from dedicated field instrumentation.
- Demonstrated record of teamwork and interprofessional skills and the ability to successfully assume responsibility and follow through with assigned tasks.
