Job Description:
AGC Biologics is currently looking for an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to provide technical expertise to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of a safe working environment. The role will be focused on assisting the facility in ensuring that operations are carried out in accordance with Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as company EH&S policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engages with employees at all organizational levels to promote a safe work culture and environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Provides EH&S floor presence and supports facility personnel on projects and activities to ensure compliance with safety policies and resolve EH&S-related issues.
- Supports EH&S compliance inspections and audits and maintains corrective action tracking systems to ensure resolution of identified risks. Coordinates inspections of safety-related equipment and systems (fire, emergency equipment and supplies) to meet appropriate fire and life safety codes.
- Collects and compiles EH&S data for regulatory reporting and metrics tracking purposes.
- Assists in the development of EH&S plans, reports and management system elements to ensure conformance with OSHA Voluntary Protection Program STAR and ISO14001 environmental management system requirements and ISO 450001.
- Ensures environmental compliance through the performance of hazardous waste inspections, monitoring of waste accumulation areas, coordination of waste disposal activities and employee training.
- Assists in industrial hygiene monitoring evaluations including, but not limited to, area noise measurements and air contaminant sampling. Recommends process improvements and controls to minimize employee exposure to hazardous materials and agents.
- Partners with department managers and employees to investigate, review and analyze safety and near miss incidents. Facilitates root cause analyses and develops corrective and preventive action plans as necessary to minimize risk.
- Assists in the development of EH&S training programs. Facilitates training on regulatory and hazard awareness topics for new and current employees, updates training curricula and assignments as necessary and generates training reports. Serves as administrator of the EH&S computer-based training learning management system.
- Fosters employee participation by partnering with site EH&S teams (Employee Safety Committee, Wellness, Ergonomics, Sustainability, Emergency Response and safety improvement teams) and providing technical support and guidance.
- Maintains current and accurate databases for Safety Data Sheets and HMIS plan documents.
- Assists in the development and implementation of emergency plans, procedures and drills.
- Supports global EH&S initiatives and provides technical EH&S assistance to AGC Biologics locations as needed.
Requirements:
- S. degree in relevant field; or A.S degree +2 additional years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, chemical or other regulated industry.
- 3+ years in GMP operations, preferably in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, chemical or other regulated industry.
- Basic knowledge of occupational hygiene, risk management, compliance, and ability to follow direction for application to standard work.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 for managing standard work.
- Proficient use of applicable systems software (i.e., Learning Management System, data analytics, etc.)
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and techniques commensurate with job level.
- Ability to manage routine and non-routine workload under direct supervision.
- Ability to work on a flexible work schedule and on-call basis as necessary to support operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 or OSHA 2 yr. certificate.
- Hazwopper first responder (8 hrs.)
- ASP/CSP or other certification.
- First Aid certification.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
$83,000 - $115,000k
Fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience levels, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Team Members are also eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus commensurate to the level of the role. The payout is based on both the company's performance and the Team Member's performance.
