The primary focus of this role is to support Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as the Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist for the Seattle Sites within the Department of Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EOHSS).

The individual in this role will be responsible for providing administrative support and developing, planning, organization, and executing EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training to ensure that the site maintains a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant facility in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, safety, medical surveillance and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides.

  • Prepare and distribute a wide range of EHS communications.

  • Update site EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop, create, and manage site platforms and databases, including SharePoint, for the documentation of procedures, forms, SOPs, investigations, reports, inspections, action items, and communications in line with quality and EHS requirements.

  • Create, maintain, and distribute EHS reports, and records as assigned.

  • Manage the EOHSS training process for the site. Collaboratively work with trainers to develop new and revised training, accurately assign training based on requirements, and support training records requests.

  • Executes, tracks, and manages purchase orders, check requests, financial reports, expenses, correspondences, and meetings.

  • Build strong relationships with, and primary contact for, internal customers, researchers, maintenance, management, and other cross functional groups.

  • Participates in EOHSS operational and tier discussions, EHS committees and teams; and EHS self-assessments, inspections, GEMBAs, and audits.

  • Challenge status quo and bring new approaches to continually improve the effectiveness of workflows and processes and learn and apply new concepts.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in chemistry, biological sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) plus years of EHS Incident and/or Project Coordinator experience required.

  • Experience with incidents and/or learning systems database (e.g., Enablon, Success Factors, etc.) preferred.

  • Previous experience related to the EHS federal and state regulations (EPA, WA DEC, OSHA, WA L&I, etc.) preferred.

  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to frequently changing priorities simultaneously and think creatively, critically, and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment.

  • Experience handling confidential information and sensitive issues in a diplomatic manner to ensure integrity and confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proclivity for partnership and collaboration with peers, all levels of management, cross-functional teams at site and EOHSS above site teams.

The starting compensation for this job in Washington (WA) is a range from $60,000 - $76,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
