We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our dynamic team in a manufacturing, production, and distribution environment. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant experience in implementing and managing health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations related to Environmental Health and safety.
- Ensure the organization's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update safety policies and procedures in alignment with current regulations.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement and oversee safety programs to mitigate workplace risks and prevent incidents.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
- Ensure that employees are informed and trained on safety procedures and protocols.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture through ongoing communication and training initiatives.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Conduct regular drills to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.
Environmental Management:
- Monitor and manage environmental aspects related to manufacturing, production, and distribution processes.
- Implement strategies to reduce the environmental impact of operations.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar EHS role within a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
- Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus
- Experience with large scale shredding programs is a plus
