Job Summary
  • The primary objective of this role is to ensure that employees comply with company Health and Safety laws and regulations. This role leads efforts to enhance the safety of employees through incident prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety, where Health and environment are ingrained as a core value.
  • The position ensure compliance of all Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) aspects of multiple manufacturing sites and sets local SH&E strategies for overall success in alignment with corporate policy, as well as federal and state regulatory compliance.
  • The role coordinates strategies to meet vision and passion of learning objectives and assists in the overseeing of daily operational objectives with regard to safety by identifying and mitigating any potential hazards.

Essential Functions
  • Leads/fosters/develops a caring culture where safety, Health and environment are ingrained as a core value with all employees, everyone believes zero is achievable, everyone is actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner, everyone actively interacts with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.
  • Partners with multiple Site leadership teams to manage SH&E Key Priorities, Drivers and Activities with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive Site SH&E performance improvement. Ensures these are aligned with Corporate Strategies, Programs and Plans with the objective of sustainable World Class SH&E performance.
  • Ensure Site maintains continuous "audit ready" state of compliance with company SH&E policies and procedures as well as all applicable external regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and ensures compliance of programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.
  • Drives key effective, sustainable implementation of Corporate, and Site SH&E initiatives, strategies, programs and procedures, responsibilities via hands on leadership, coaching and team work.
  • Manages the effective implementation and utilization of risk assessment and risk prediction processes at the Site to ensure these are effective at identifying and mitigating hazards and effectively communicating them to all affected employees
  • Ensures investigation of all SH&E related incidents utilizing root cause and to identify actions to prevent recurrence. Ensures all actions to prevent recurrence are effectively implemented. Ensures effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning as desired.
  • Coordinate safety, environmental and manufacturing operations orientation training as well as providing employee refresher training in both the classroom and plant setting.
  • Coordinate orientation for temporary employees and maintain current updates to training programs.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental rules, regulations, policies and training requirements. Ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
  • Influence Plant, Production, Operations, Maintenance and site management to drive The SH&E performance and results by developing and implementing Health and Safety plans according to legal and company guidelines
  • Develops and executes strategic and tactical EHS plans
  • Accountable for managing site EHS documentation to include program design, EHS data collection and posting, training documentation
  • Support facility Continuous Improvement objectives through Kaizen participation and PSP analysis to improve production and Safety objectives
  • Interfaces with external web-based programs for uploading, certifying and managing Environmental and Safety data for corporate, state and federal organizations

Experience/Education
  • Associates Degree in a scientific discipline or SH&E related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in SH&E roles with working knowledge ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, LEAN and TPM concepts
  • Through experience in manufacturing operations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Through knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills
  • Ability to support multi-site locations
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence across a diverse range of people from corporate leadership to non-exempt team members
  • Good technical understanding of SH&E issues and their relationship to production/engineering and job functions as it relates to building in prevention.
  • Strong demonstrated verbal / written communications, analytical and problem solving skills. Must be detailed and results oriented
  • Ability to achieve results through crosses functional teams
  • Ability to train in a classroom as well as hands on in the manufacturing area
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing operations, paint chemistry, processing, plant capacity and automations, equipment usage, setup procedures, and paint processing
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suites and/or Software application related to job functions

Special Requirements
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • May be required to work different shifts as necessary
  • May be required to incur some occasional out of state travel
