- Develop and maintain applicable safety and health procedures and practices in compliance with corporate, state, federal and local regulations.
- Promote the implementation of occupational safety programs, procedures and activities.
- Facilitate safety process development, implementation, and compliance of all subcontracts.
- Participate and support integration at the site level to address site-related safety, quality, Health and welfare to include environmental concerns.
- Provide guidance to managers and supervisors to assist in the interpretation and compliance of safety and health-related contract requirements.
- Conduct special evaluations and internal safety and health field surveys/audits. Compile reports and findings of surveys and audits for review and makes corrective action recommendations and tracks to closure as required.
- Manage field and construction safety operations.
- Provide training and mentoring to site safety resources to strengthen Health and Safety competencies through the continuous improvement process.
- Manage Asbestos O&M program.
- Act as company liaison for EHS regulatory interface, correspondence submittals, and testing.
- Assist in providing information for Workers Compensation requests (incident investigations).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Five or more years of progressive work experience in the EHS discipline.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.), Chartered IOSH Membership, or other related certification a plus.
- Excellent computer skills and demonstrated working knowledge of computers and software including MS Windows, Word, PowerPoint. Proficient in Excel for budgets and spreadsheets.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Polished professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal English communication skills to write memos, letters, and reports, and interact effectively with contractors, tenants, peers, vendors, and management.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task, attentive to detail, with excellent follow-up skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing environment and perform in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Requires occasional travel to other properties and regional offices.
- Requires a wide range of constant physical activities, including but not limited to: standing, walking, and sitting.
- Requires close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Requires work such as tours throughout property portfolio, including to construction sites, usually performed by walking and by climbing stairs.
- Requires movement between departments to facilitate work.
