Seeking an Environmental Field Technician/Equipment Manager

Location:       To be considered, you MUST live near our Loveland, Colorado headquarters (within 1/2 hour) to manage and or mobilize equipment. All positions at Aestus are virtual/remote, working from your home office while not in the field.

Compensation:$24-$36 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience. Full- or part-time engagement is determined based on qualifications and employee interest.

The Environmental Field Technician/Equipment Manager attributes to the company’s success in the field, as well as in the office when fieldwork is not available. This position is responsible for ensuring specialized equipment and vehicles are well maintained and are ready for upcoming field projects, even with short notice. This role will operate a truck and trailer combination according to DOT protocols and participate in active fieldwork. This role may involve traveling to project sites for 5-14 days at a time, both domestically and internationally, with covered overnight expenses. In some instances where you can work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends, it will be necessary/expected to perform the job duties, particularly during fieldwork. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Implement and uphold safety standards for vehicle operation and equipment use.
  • Stay current with relevant equipment and safety training, as well as industry best practices.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: 

  • Perform regular maintenance on all vehicles, including trucks and trailers, to ensure they are in optimal condition. 
    • Ability to recognize when missing the skill set to do the work and arrange with vendors to outsource the repairs/maintenance.
  • Conduct equipment maintenance, such as tools, machinery, and safety gear.
  • Repair and troubleshoot mechanical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records for all vehicles and equipment.

Transportation and Logistics:

  • Drive truck and trailer combinations to and from field sites while adhering to (DOT) regulations.
  • Manage logistics, including loading and unloading equipment and supplies at field locations.

Field Operations:

  • Participate in field projects, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment and tools at field sites.
  • Ensure the availability and readiness of necessary field supplies, such as safety equipment and materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings in equipment maintenance and field operations.
  • Perform field work Including, but not limited to, field data acquisition, land survey data acquisition, and instrumentation QC documentation

Inventory Management:

  • Keep track of inventory for field supplies and restock as needed to maintain an adequate supply for field operations.
  • Maintain organized and efficient storage of field equipment and supplies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain records related to vehicle and equipment maintenance, field activities, and travel expenses.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on equipment status and needs.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure a smooth transition between fieldwork and equipment maintenance.
  • When not in the field, support office operations as required, including administrative tasks, equipment inventory management, and collaborating with team members.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirments:
  • Associate/bachelor college degree in construction management, land surveying, GIS, civil engineering, geology, electrical engineering, or related degree is preferred. 
  • 1-3 years of vehicle and equipment management and maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (electronic, laboratory, geophysical, etc.) is required. 
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining vehicles and instrumentation/equipment is required.
  • Experience driving a truck/tow vehicle with a trailer is preferred. 
  • The ability to pass the DOT Physical is a must
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hour Training is preferred but can be obtained after employment
  • TWIC clearance is preferred but can be obtained after employment. 
  • Safeland Training is preferred but can be obtained after employment.
