Job Summary:
Support and improve business processes through the development and support of software applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Documents functional requirements, analyzes requirements in the context of software and processes, develops and executes test plans, assists with and document business process improvement efforts, and troubleshoots production issues.
- Serves as project lead for various projects.
- Assists in development of software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
- Design, code, and configure complex software packages and systems to address user and system needs.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in conceptualizing, developing and maintaining effective business solutions.
- Manages and assesses SIS/ERP effectiveness by functional area assigned; identifies needs and develop horizontal upgrade, and support plans.
- Performs data validation and quality control checks to maximize operational performance.
- Uses a variety of programming skills and languages to create new applications or to support and maintain existing applications.
- Develops and maintains design, configuration, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Works across various platforms that integrate with the College's ERP systems and understands the governance, security and integration development.
- Serves as the primary or secondary business partner and programming support for one or more of these technologies/systems:
- ERP/SIS (primary support)
- Reporting/Data Analytics (primary support)
- Document Imaging (primary support)
- Web application development (secondary support)
- Content Management (secondary support)
- Trains and assists users with the operation of software systems and adoption of new functionality.
- Maintains regular and effective communication with the user community, colleagues within the organization unit, and supervisors.
- Researches and keeps well informed on rapid development tools and emerging technologies.
- Maintains continuous professional growth and development through a series of actions, including reading technical, professional, and marketing literature, attending workshops, seminars and demonstrations, collaborating with vendors, manufacturers, and colleagues, and engaging in hands-on experiences with a variety of technologies.
- Provides informed recommendations for enhancements and improvements at Rock Valley College based on new and emerging technologies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Enterprise Systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills, and ability to interface directly with executive level staff.

- Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills; maintain courteous attitude in dealing with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to learn the RVC Enterprise Systems and new programs and languages as technology changes.

- Ability and willingness to complete several concurrent tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, multi-tasking environment.

Bachelor' Degree in Information Technology or other related technical discipline or Associates Degree in information technology or other related technical discipline and 5 years of experience in enterprise level or large-scale complex database programming environment required, in lieu of bachelor's degree. Other relevant experience will also be considered.
- Successful applicants will have 3-4 years' experience in at least some of the technologies below, or other relevant technologies:
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Experience with ERP systems programming. Administrative and Student Information Systems (i.e. Ellucian [Colleague, Banner], CAMS, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar) for higher education preferred but not required.
- Programming and Support: SQL, any 4GL, Visual Basic, SharePoint, GitHub, ETHOS Integration, Content Management System (e.g. Omni CMS, CommonSpot), ColdFusion, Web-based tools such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ASP.NET, C#, Node-RED, Docker, etc.
- Related professional certifications are desirable.
- Experience working in an educational setting is preferred but not required
