Position Overview
Full performance level in engineering technology under direction of an engineer requiring considerable knowledge of construction methods and materials and complex technical engineering tasks in order to assist engineering staff with preparation and review of plans and drawings to comply with county and local rules and regulations and other engineering-related functions and suggest corrections and improvements. Performs the material and substantial duties of the classification more than 50% of the time.
Summary of Job Duties
Provides technical assistance to engineering staff, (e.g., reviews plans and drawings prepared by others to ensure they meet specifications, updates drawings when renovations or upgrades occur, assists in processing bidding documents and cost estimates, submits new projects to Ohio EPA, prepares approval resolutions, prepares and processes easement documents and coordinates easement acquisitions, prepares and processes requests to establish protection agreements, makes revisions, change orders and calculations on plans, participates in engineering research, plots and checks center lines and cross sections and makes related computations).
Checks and compiles contractors' payments estimates and prepares project proposals and estimates from plans under the direction and guidance of an engineer, receives petitions, verifies ownership, checks as-built records, prepares request for proposal for selection of design-consultant, coordinates project design with consultants, prepares bid documents and legislation for bidding, reviews and assists in selection of successful bidder, coordinates inspection, prepares legislation for certification to tax duplicate.
Establishes and maintains project files, costs, correspondence and related database information, performs clerical and statistical work involved to assure compliance with governing laws, attends meetings and acts as coordinator for public meetings and hearings.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Completion of associate degree core course work in civil engineering, GIS, Land Surveying, Drafting, Construction or a related field such as civil or mechanical engineering or four (4) years of full time work experience in engineering. Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
