Job description

Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager will lead the efforts of the Engineering Team. Responsible for Group Development, Workflows, Engineering Standards, Meeting Department Budget, and Site Capital Execution and Throughput.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a multi-discipline, Engineering Group. Develop, monitor, and track engineering performance metrics, and report monthly. Take corrective action, as necessary, to maintain quality and quantity of work output.
  2. Prioritize and balance capital project assignments across the Engineering Group. Flexibly modify priorities as conditions change and as new opportunities arise.
  3. Collaborate and/or partner with support resources (internal and external) in the development of project work, including facility drawing management, design, process safety and construction oversight.
  4. Develop and/or refine engineering workflow processes, including requests for capital, design and safety reviews, equipment specifications, purchasing practices, contractor bid packages, and project closeout procedures.
  5. Support Process Safety Management (PSM) by: (a) supporting and/or participating in process hazard analyses (PHAs), (b) supporting the development, maintenance, and upgrade of Process Safety Information (PSI), (c) initiating, developing, and driving closure of Management of Change (MOC) workflows as well as providing overall review and/or approval considering safety and design adequacy, (d) completing recommendations and/or actions assigned, (e) support engineering and design aspects associated with the site mechanical integrity program.
  6. Modify and update capital project forecast, at least monthly. Keep project status, issues, and spending up to date. Assist in developing annual capital budget and five-year plan. Review final project metrics against approved IRR/payback or other project justification.
  7. Update, modify, and develop applicable Engineering Standards and References for Kalsec. Establish workflow for generating and review of new Engineering Standards. Consistently review Engineering Standards with Group.
  8. Train, cross train, and develop the Engineering team. Support higher learning initiatives and efforts to improve technical skills. Document goals, achievements, and development plans in UltiPro.
  9. Assist Production, Finishing, Maintenance, Facilities, and Process Development in troubleshooting and resolving safety or operability issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives, e.g., lean manufacturing, etc. and assist in optimizing Manufacturing processes.
  10. Generate, justify, design, and execute capital projects for the benefit of Kalsec. Assist others in project development, cost estimates, design reviews, and economic justifications. Actively prioritize and pursue all improvement opportunities.

Education/Experience:
Required:
  • BS Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical)
  • 8 Years Engineering Management/Supervisory Experience
  • Project Management Experience
  • Team Builder, with Excellent Communication Skills
  • Thorough Knowledge of Engineering Codes and Standards

Desired:
  • PSM Experience
  • SQF Experience
  • Working knowledge of stage-gated capital project cycle (e.g., Front-End Loading)
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma
  • Innovative Problem Solving
