Workplace Status:
Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Milford Proving Ground or Warren Tech Center) three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

Our software and system Engineering tools team is a dynamic, high-energy, and innovative group focused on defining and designing the data architecture, design and implements the software tools used to create vehicle communications, diagnostics, software middleware, and model-based systems engineering content.
We are seeking a high-performing Engineering Group Manager interested in leading the strategic development of GM inhouse tools to enable configuration , integration and deployment of software and services to facilitate Embedded Systems software for use across the enterprise. This individual will be depended on to build strong partnerships with internal and external customers and lead the creation of efficient & scalable applications used by thousands of developers across GM & our supply base.
The selected individual will be expected to provide thought and people leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion. In addition, it is expected they will exhibit strong leadership behaviors, actively champion change, demonstrate high level of intuition for business, strategically focus on addressing systemic issues, possess a high level of learning agility, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity, tendency to expand the boundaries of innovation and not accept status quo.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes software and systems tools and automation vision and execution roadmap and coordinates execution of development across organization in accordance with the roadmap.
- Build partnerships with functional peers across the GM and Tier 1 Software Development community to outline objectives roadmap for application requirements to enable high velocity and efficient embedded Software Development.
- Develop, train, and enforce process for Software Development and associated requirements document, test & release to ensure on time delivery with first time quality.
- Lead team to execute projects on-time leveraging agile continuous integration / continuous development toolchains to enable enterprise target achievement.
- Recruit, provide people leadership and technical coaching for the reporting software team, focused on C & Java development.
- Active leadership in continual process improvement including identition, design, and implement workflow modifications with multiple business teams and application extensions.
Additional Description
Qualifications – Required
- BS in Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
- 10+ years of engineering experience in software/tools design and development
- Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
- Experience leading global team of direct reports responsible for designing and commercializing software.
- Strong experience with Agile Software Development workflows
- Strong experience driving business case driven technical solution decisions for broad organization.
- Strong comprehension of automotive software architecture and AutoSAR ethernet stack, experience w/ software bring-up.
Qualifications - Preferred
- Master’s degree/PhD in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science
- Strong comprehension of automotive embedded Software Development
- Knowledge of embedded firmware development (C/C++), operating systems (Unix, Linux, RTOS for embedded system) on networking devices
