The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) is currently seeking an Engineering intern in the Air National Guard Program Division - Tucson. The student's tasks may include:

• Assisting in design and CAD modeling of mechanical parts and assemblies, and drawing creation
• Working closely with mechanical and flight test engineers in support of projects related to aircraft modification and instrumentation as needed
• Conduct material and component research and selection based on environmental needs in aviation.
• Work with data analysis engineers on aircraft data infrastructure and test events.
• Miscellaneous engineering related tasks as needed

Required Minimum Qualifications
Student Assistant/Research Assistant

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or a related field.
• Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
• 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical people
• An affiliation with military aviation is desired (I.E. ROTC, desire to work in DoD as engineer, etc)
• Introductory or beyond experience with computer aided drafting and 3D modeling

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
