JOB SUMMARY
In collaboration with Cancer Institute CIOS, Nurse Navigation and Office of Philanthropy and Partnership leadership, the Navigator Project and Research Coordinator (NPRC) will develop a Navigator Coordinator position to support the new Oncology Navigation and Support department consisting of multidisciplinary nurse navigators and social workers. A position description will be created with job duties and a Case for Support to be utilized for philanthropic meetings with individuals who possibly would donate a sum encompassing salary and benefits. The position will be refined with input from all parties supporting the role. The NPRC will also manage research projects being conducted in this department that will include: meetings, timeline and grant submissions will be coordinated between collaborative organizations for each research project.This will also include, developing research tools, algorithms, reports, and IRB submissions, as well as regulatory compliance deliverables specific to those research projects. Database construction, population, and on going maintenance for project management and implementation. Assisting with pre-grant conceptual development of feasibility/pilot projects and coordinating meetings between research collaboratives and industry partners.The NPRC will also review grant opportunities and prepare manuscripts/abstracts/posters for publication. Assist in marketing, media, public relations as related to the department initiative. Assists office of philanthropy and partnership in promoting support for research initiatives as well as this concept position.Community outreach including the construction and circulation of marketing deliverables when appropriate to support clinical trial accruals.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Interviews, observes workflows in navigation department to create a position of a coordinator that will support the department. Identifies appropriate tasks for a coordinator. This includes streamlining and creating new workflow processes. Tests workflows for coordinator support and refines workflows with feedback from staff. Creates job description as a final step and creates a Case for Support for OPP to utilize for possible funding.
- Coordinates the preparation of clinical development plans and research project strategy works directly with Cancer Institute clinical leadership to identify current applicable research concepts and interact with external and internal scientists/clinicians for concept implementation. This includes pre-grant meetings with collaborators, managing deliverables, and interacting with Prisma Health office of sponsored grants to coordinate grant submissions.
- Coordinate donor meetings with OPP officer creating deliverables for meetings to explain and update concept position and/or research projects.
- Initiates education and orientation of Oncology Navigation and Cancer Support staff for research project(s) implementation. Supports growth and development of the clinical university. Identifies and maintains student participation within research initiatives.
- Initiation and construction of databases (RedCaps, SPSS, or SAS) as well as education and coordination of database sharing between staff and research collaborators.
- Calculate graphs and compile data obtained and analyze results, maintain records, and logs of worked performed.
- Prepares manuscripts, publications, or posters and coordinates collaborative review with investigators.
- Create a report of cost savings for new position instead of navigators performing tasks. Create databases to support navigator efficiency and analysis of their work and outreach.
- Assists staff in creation of patient education and support deliverables and web page management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in health related field. Masters preferred.
IN LIEU OF THE ABOVE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 1 year experience in health informatics field preferred
- Research experience during student internship preferred.
- Student rotation through health related internship preferred.
