American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Services for our new Sierra Vista campus opening in the Fall of 2024. Candidates must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversees and directs campus Student Services department
- Coordinates with Campus Director and District to develop strategic plan and goals for Student Services department
- Serves as campus administrative lead for: enrollment; registration; student and course scheduling; academic counseling; graduation requirements; credit awarding; college admissions, testing, and scholarships; and post-high school transition
- Abides by policies as set forth by ALA Board, SIS and Academic Team
- Oversees campus enrollment process in coordination with the ALA district office
- Campus lead for campus tours and enrollment outreach programs
- Oversees campus registration process in coordination with district office
- Processes student transfers and ensures transfer students are on track to meet school and state requirements for graduation
- Oversees student and course scheduling
- Serves as campus lead for student academic scheduling
- Guides students to choose courses consistent with his/her interests, abilities and career plans
- Makes necessary schedule changes for individual students that are both appropriate for student abilities and aligned with educational and career plans
- Reviews and provides feedback to ALA Course Catalogs in coordination with the Director and the ALA Chief Academic Officer
- Coordinates with the district office to ensure all courses offered meet Arizona state requirements
- Oversees academic counseling
- Assists in planning and/or promotion of programs which enhance academic, social or emotional growth of Students (Career Fair, Graduation, scholarship opportunities etc.)
- Refers students and parents/guardians to appropriate school and community resources
- Meets with students on a routine basis to ensure on-track status to meet graduation requirements as outlined by district and state guidelines
- Monitors and meets with ‘at risk’ students as needed, and if appropriate, formulates plan of action for success involving students and parents
- Develops academic contracts and follow up with students as needed to ensure progress
- Leads / support campus programs that support student achievement
- Oversees student graduation requirements
- Serves as campus lead for graduation activities
- Ensures that students are aware of requirements for graduation and college admissions
- Prepares and validates lists of Students eligible to graduate
- Assists campus Director in preparation of diploma lists and identification of honor graduates for Honors Programs and Graduation
- Ensures transfer students are on track to meet school and state requirements for graduation
- Coordinates with Assistant Directors of Academics to manage dual-enrollment / con-current enrollment programs
- Administers campus programs for awarding course credit in coordination with the campus Director
- Monitors students’ attendance and administers credit withholding decision process for students with excessive absences
- Assesses on-line, home school, transfer, or other academic programs of transfer or new enrollments for awarding of credit toward programs
- Oversees programs supporting college admissions, testing, and scholarships
- Assists students with completion of college admissions and applications
- Schedules assessments related to post-secondary education (e.g., PSAT)
- Oversees programs supporting student post-high school transition
- Assists in development of post-secondary educational plans in accordance with interests, abilities and career plans
- Guides and counsels individuals and groups of Students through the development of education and career plans (ECAP)
- Schedules assessment related to post-secondary education (eg., ASVAB)
- Compiles and submits student College Career Readiness Indicator (CCRI) to the Arizona Department of Education as appropriate
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education/Psychology/School Counseling (or related field)
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's Degree in School Counseling
- Valid AZ Teaching Certificate with School Counselor Endorsement
- At least 5 years experience in a 7-12 environment providing academic counseling services
