Typical Daily Tasks:
- Support the DDC by contributing Engineering insight to real-time issues on the distribution system by using CYME to perform load studies and troubleshooting DACR/VVO problems.
- Create and perform point-to-point and site acceptance testing procedures for the commissioning of new and existing smart grid devices.
- Represent the DDC to commission and enable new smart grid devices/systems such as DACR, VVO, FCIs, DERs, etc.
- Provide Day 2 Support on DACR, VVO, and SCADA equipment using applications such as POA, POR, CYME, DGP, CSII, IPS, Smartsheet and more.
- Utilize analysis skills by conducting engineering studies to ensure distribution reliability during planned and emergency outages and upcoming projects within AEP Ohio territory.
- Demonstrate your communication and writing skills by creating and updating policies and procedures for the DDC team and providing training on new and existing systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternatives are
(1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
(2) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
