Program Summary:
Partners in Equity: Community Informed System Transformation
The YMCA of San Diego County, in partnership with the County of San Diego Child & Family Wellbeing Department (CFWB), culturally specific organizations, and community members with lived expertise, will develop, implement, and evaluate innovative community-developed and -led approaches to address historical racism, racial bias, and inequity in CWS.
What does this role entail?
- Develop outreach and build relationships in identified neighborhoods
- Identify potential community members to participate in Community Well-Being efforts
- Provide quality engagement in partnership with community members in alignment with service delivery best practices (relationally responsive, strengths-based, person centered, culturally and linguistically responsive, etc.)
- Conduct intake, administer assessment tools, collaborative case planning, ongoing follow up with community members and their families, resource and referral navigation as needed
- Conduct data collection related to position activities and in alignment with overall goals
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners; attend partner meetings, facilitate presentations, support partner collaborative efforts and special projects
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate Community Engagement activities including events, listening and learning sessions, cafés, community advisory groups, etc.
- Participate in cross-functional and cross-departmental teams to support implementation
- Maintain working knowledge of internal resources and, programs and offerings
- Develop competency of different social service systems including eligibility requirements, services offered, and the application process
What do I need to bring to the table?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Social Work, Health Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, or related field or relevant experience required
- Experience in youth/family engagement via social work, social service, case management, resource navigation, family strengthening and support, mental health, or other human service delivery
- Knowledge of local community resources
- Demonstrated knowledge of family strengthening and support/resource navigation approaches
- Bilingual highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain responsive relationships with families, community members, community leaders, partners and others
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong customer service skills, sensitivity to underserved populations, and cultural humility
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to facilitate/present in groups
- Conflict resolution skills, and ability to practice sound judgment and demonstrate initiative
- Ability to tune in to your feelings, thoughts, and actions and how those impact your work
- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptable and openness to growth and learning and sharing your strengths in this role
- Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants of critical positions within Community Support Services be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
- CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute
