Description
The Elin Administrator shall report to the Chief Information Officer. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plan, install, and configure servers for ELIN.
  • Research and recommend new hardware and software purchases.
  • Maintain Linux server that houses over 300,000 volume database for libraries
  • Support PC's at different libraries and servers at the operations center
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots servers and documents software and hardware repairs needed on each server; installs and updates appropriate Operating Systems on servers; installs, implements, and maintains user-friendly applications on the network; manages and implements software updates for all servers on a regular schedule or as needed.
  • Creates, designs, implements, and manages system and data backups; administers the mail and Anti-Virus software for workstations and servers on the network; monitors the network for security issues; works with other department staff to resolve issues that affect the Intranet/Internet or server access.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains the library consortium hardware, software, and network to ensure the libraries stay connected and operate smoothly; maintains up-to-date inventory tracking and reporting on all consortium equipment.
  • Compile quarterly and yearly statistical reports

  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field preferred.
  • Professional experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a specific degree.
  • Experience with the implementation of library databases and software configuration preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of modern computer equipment, programs, and operating systems, including network switches and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of computer science theory, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of operating principles and practices of computer equipment and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of computer operating methods and procedures used by the libraries.
  • Knowledge of the operational standards and computer security procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper public contact and telephone etiquette.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in good organization and time management skills.
  • Skill in accurately evaluating and analyzing hardware and software.
  • Skill in determining accurate remedies when troubleshooting computer related problems.
  • Skill in operating various types of office equipment including computers and related software and hardware.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public.
  • Ability to install and maintain a variety of computer programs.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Ability to research a variety of information.
  • Ability to tactfully respond to requests and inquiries from customers/users.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Positions may require the ability to safely move up to 50 pounds; and drive a golf cart, truck, and other related equipment.

Additional Information
This is a twelve-month exempt position. Standard benefits apply. The full pay range for this position is $63,078 to $91,892.
