This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with , including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.
This position is assigned to the South Central Region Maintenance Yard and located at Tabor Correctional in Tabor City, NC.
This position will provide journey level skills in the electronics field and will perform installations, diagnostic troubleshooting, corrective/preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of electronic equipment and systems, PBX systems, and fire alarm systems associated with correctional institutions.
  • This will include the ability to layout and design electronic circuitry to support new installations and needs of the various facilities within the region.
  • Duties will require installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair to discrete component levels of solid state electronic equipment in control rooms, perimeter fence areas, office areas, physical plants, mechanical rooms, and other areas.
  • Facilities utilize a wide variety of electronic systems for the purpose of maintaining security, including programmable logic detention control, close-circuit video cameras and high resolution monitors, electronic intrusion systems (EIS) consisting of frequency modulated microwave transmitters/receivers, tactile sensor wire and wired and wireless LANS for security.
  • He/She will supervise the work of skilled and unskilled labor (including inmates) in the completion of assigned tasks.
Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is NC11. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate's degree in electronics from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus;
-OR-
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
