Electrical Engineer
Our Electrical Engineers are responsible for designing hardware and facilitating testing needs for various new products. Additionally, this position will assist in sustaining engineering for existing products. Reports to the Electrical Engineering Hardware/Software Manager.
Duties
- Assess and clarify product requirements in collaboration with product management and systems engineering.
- Develop level-of-effort estimates during project business case development in conjunction with product management and engineering.
- Schedule and prioritize projects with project manager and engineering teams.
- Recommend resource needs.
- Own the technical hardware and software aspects of projects.
- Track and provide narrative on status of current projects.
- Recommend training and professional development needs for team members.
- Resolve technical differences with team members
- Serve as the electrical in-house technical expert on electrical product design, testing and specifications.
- Communicate with customers on design and testing status of products in development, testing and evolution.
- Ensure standards and best practices or implemented and upheld.
- Create PCB design, test, and diagnostic equipment design and development.
- Devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs.
- Monitor work for compliance to applicable specifications, accepted engineering practices, and company standards.
- Convert customer requests into practical electrical solutions.
- Create and maintain copies of drawings and information in our product database.
- Perform DVP&R, DFMEA, WCCA.
- Create and maintain BOM for the design.
- Develop designs using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
- Develop electronics designs using schematic capture and computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
- Develop software and validation tools using CANape or Matlab/Simulink or other tools.
- Design and develop Lab and End of Line testers using National Instruments products.
- Work with outside suppliers as needed to convey specifications and requirements.
- Follow proper root cause analysis tools and techniques - document findings in detail.
- Communicate with QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.
- Assist in the collection and maintenance of vehicle and product application data to develop product.
Travel
Travel will be minimal. Occasional travel to Wisconsin, Indiana as well as customer sites and manufacturning plants may be required for business needs
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience as a team leader.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
Must be able to pass EVerify.
