We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist in operating and maintaining fixed and mobile laboratories supporting foreign material exploitation (FME) at a customer location on Redstone Arsenal. SAIC operates multi-disciplined FME labs at this location that provide support to the analysis of missile system components from man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs), surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), transporter erector launchers (TELs), decoys, and camouflage.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Conducting and supporting FME in Electro-Optical, Infrared, Imaging, and Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) labs at the customer location, as well as during operational field-testing
- Performing tests and measurements in the Electro-Optical / Infrared (EO/IR) and Imaging labs, supporting FME projects using X-ray systems and spectrometers, radiometers, and imagers in ultraviolet to LWIR bands
- Assisting in the GNC lab with configuring data acquisition hardware for collecting, storing, and disseminating inertial measurement unit data and using rate table dynamic-link libraries to automate data acquisition for navigation systems
- Assisting in determining accelerometers’ and gyros’ parameters and using 2- and 3-axis rotation tables to support lab testing activities
- Contributing to the selection, procurement, and integration of instrumentation to support the increased test analysis capabilities of threat equipment in response to broad Government requirements
- Providing support, within each FME laboratory, for the development of automation and proceduralization, where possible
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- Active Secret security clearance with eligibility and willingness to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics or graduating within 12 months
- Minimum five (5) years or more of relevant experience
- Experience using NI LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, and C/C++
- Experience working as part of a team to translate technical findings into intelligence reporting
Desired:
- Knowledge and experience with setting up, verifying proper operation of, calibrating, and documenting equipment-test procedures for specialized lab equipment
- Experience maintaining configuration control of lab inventory scheduling for annual maintenance and calibrations of select specialized test equipment from the manufacturers’ service representatives
- Experience track maintenance records and calibration results to ensure accountability and mission readiness with no delay in responding to Government requests
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
