Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will be responsible for leading environmental compliance and driving key sustainability initiatives in the manufacturing setting. As a direct report to the EHS Manager, this team member also plays a key role in contributing to Safety compliance and risk reduction. Additionally, the EHS Specialist must adhere to our guiding principles of integrity, commitment, and excellence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as primary point of contact and SME for environmental concerns; provide immediate guidance for a 24/7 manufacturing operation
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings required by local, state, and federal agencies including EPA and GA EPD
- Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with Corporate EHS staff, contract consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Ensure site maintains environmental compliance (Air, Water, Waste) including management of Title V Air, NPDES Storm Water, RCRA Waste Generation, NESHAP, and NSPS
- Establish sustainable processes in conjunction with Operations
- Complete internal reporting requirements in a timely manner
- Manage the Wastewater Treatment function
- Support the EHS Team with Safety support function; serve as back-up for EHS Manager
- Attend daily site meetings to present Environmental data and request resources as needed
- Establish and maintain regulatory files in accordance with corporate guidelines
- Produce effective routine plant communication and training
- Identify and execute Environmental and Sustainability improvement opportunities
- Guide/lead/manage the responsibilities of four teammates
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Environmental (or related) field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of and experience with compliance as detailed in responsibilities
- Ability to work effectively within a perse manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet Key Performance Indicators and other Performance Objectives
- Solid document management and recordkeeping approach with ability to leverage technology to support process improvements, accuracy, and efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to work with production operations in support of compliance and improvement
- Successful leadership of a small team
- Proficient computer skills to support compliance reports and plant communication (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, QCS, AutoCAD, regulatory sites)
- Substantial experience in managing Consultants in support of compliance
