Job Description and Duties

The 2023-24 State Budget provides new funding and positions to establish the Data Visualization and Insight Office (DVIO), within the Analysis, Measurement, and Accountability Reporting Division. The purpose of this office is to develop data stories to share trends, provide insights, and respond to emergent data needs and requests from the administration and policy makers.

Under the direction of the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I of the DVIO, the Education Research and Evaluation Consultant (EREC) independently and collaboratively performs complex tasks to respond to data requests from policy makers, administration, and outside agencies. The incumbent will analyze educational data from sources such as the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System, California Basic Educational Data System, along with data stored in the Department's data warehouse, to communicate its insights by developing a variety of communication materials to tell the data story.

The EREC will also review and respond to legislative counter proposals as well as provide support to data requests relating to natural disasters and emergencies.

TELEWORK OPTION

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
