What would you do in this role?
As an Editorial Assistant, you will provide vital support to the editorial team, contributing to content creation across diverse topics including fashion, beauty, wellness, lifestyle, culture, career, and finance. Collaborating closely with the managing editor and the entire editorial team, the Editorial Assistant undertakes various responsibilities such as writing and revising stories, assisting in content compilation, and contributing to images and graphics as required.
Must be available 30 hours per week during The Everygirl Media Group’s core business hours, 9:30am-3:30pm CST.
Responsibilities
- Review and edit articles, or other content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style to ensure it meets the company’s editorial guidelines and maintains high-quality standards.
- Carefully proofread content to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in spelling, grammar, and formatting before publication.
- Collaborate with the creative team to select and source relevant images, graphics, and multimedia elements to accompany written content.
- Assist in optimizing content for search engines (SEO).
- Keep up to date with industry trends and developments to contribute fresh ideas and approaches to content creation.
- All team members are expected to contribute to the overall video content creation process as needed to further company goals, including the creation and delivery of original video assets.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, or a related field, or a demonstration of equivalent expertise through relevant work experience for positions in these fields.
- Ability to communicate and strategize effectively with the team while working remotely.
- A deep understanding of The Everygirl’s brand and content coverage.
- Proficiency in AP Style and a strong grasp of grammar, with the ability to adhere to The Everygirl Media Group Style Guide.
- Excellent communication skills for delivering constructive feedback.
- Strong organizational abilities, enabling efficient management of multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong writing skills.
- Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to think critically and problem-solve independently.
Preferred
- 1+ years of experience in writing and editing
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Slack.
- Proficiency in Asana or other similar project management platforms.
- Proficiency in WordPress or other similar content management platforms.
Compensation
Range: $20.00-$24.00 per hour; commensurate with experience and location.

About the position
Are you a creative, internet-savvy individual with your pulse on everything trending? Do you spend your mornings catching up on the latest content from your favorite media outlets? Are you able to turn around a well-written, witty, and engaging piece of content under tight deadlines? We’re looking for an eager, knowledgeable intern who can help create content for our audiences at The Everygirl Media Group.
What would you do in this role?
This position will help The Everymom team create content across various topics, including but not limited to: fashion, beauty, wellness, living, culture, parenting, and career and finance. You’ll work directly with our managing editor throughout the entire content creation process. Responsibilities will include writing and updating stories, helping editors put their content together, and working with images and graphics. You will also have the opportunity to pitch and contribute your own story ideas.
This is a paid internship ideal for someone looking to gain experience in media and journalism. Must be available 20 hours per week during The Everygirl Media Group’s core business hours, 9:30am-3:30pm CST.
Qualifications
- Strong writing skills
- Knowledge of Google Docs and Google Sheets
- Have excellent multitasking skills
- Be able to work independently and have problem-solving skills
- Have excellent time management and communication skills
- Be willing and able to collaborate with our team on engaging content ideas
Requirements
- Must have your own computer and reliable Wi-Fi
Preferred skills
- Experience writing for an online publication or blog
- SEO knowledge
- Familiarity with social media
- Experience with WordPress or similar content management system
- Experience with graphic design platforms like Canva
Details
The internship will begin on Monday, July 8, 2024 and culminate on Friday, December 20, 2024. Note: Being a student is not a requirement for this role.
Compensation
Range: $16.00-$18.00/ hr
