The Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for credentialing and privilege providers and contracted staff. Credentialing functions include but are not limited to, processing provider and contract provider credentialing applications, performing primary source verifications, and updating and maintaining credentialing databases following internal policies and procedures and applicable state and federal requirements. The Specialist will ensure that all compliance requirements for ECI are met and documented.
Primary Responsibilities
1 | Gathers and organizes provider and contract providers onboarding documentation, including but not limited to Texas Standard Application (TSA), liability insurance, malpractice insurance, license, board certification, background check, and fingerprinting.
2 | Maintain all provider credentialing and privileging compliance documentation per local, state, and federal and training requirements per local, state, and federal and agency policies and procedures.
3 | In writing, notify providers and contract providers of any upcoming license and certification within our contract's timeframes.
4 | Verifying provider's liability insurance, malpractice insurance, license, board certification, background check, and fingerprinting are eligible for the position.
5 | Advise the Manager and Director of questionable information received, and any issues identified during the credentialing process, including but not limited to provider onboarding and recertification.
6 | Ensure and maintain knowledge of all rules and regulations regarding licensure and supervision requirements of ECI.
7 | Coordinate staff compliance requirements with the HR Specialist.
8 | Tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.
9 | Ensures that all documentation is uploaded and maintained on an electronic database.
10 | Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Experience
Required | Preferred
Minimum of two years experience in a medical office setting. | Four years of prior employment experience in credentialing
Education/Certifications/Licensure

High School Diploma or GED Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a pre-employment physical. |

Computer skills and experience in maintaining automated recordkeeping systems. Knowledge of Electronic Health Record software; Microsoft Office Suite. Effective communication skills, written and oral, are necessary. Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Accurate and precise attention to detail. Goal-oriented, organized team player. | Prefer bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Requirements
Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, and talking for up to eight (8) hours a day. Must have good vision, with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds. Lifting will be primarily confined to occasional on-premises lifting of boxes of office supplies and minor office equipment.
