Job Summary: Under the supervision of Lead Teacher and Teacher, responsible for supervising a group of children, 12 months to 3 years old. Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting the daily program activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in conducting developmentally appropriate activities that prepare youth for success by incorporating the mission and youth development strategy
Assist in creating an environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being of children
Assist in instructing, guiding and supporting each child’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development
Provide individualized personal care routines to meet the needs of children and support them to develop their skills
Assist in creating an environment that promotes active participation and incorporate guidance and discipline principles
Assist in meeting the Early Head Start (EHS) Standards
Attend required conferences, meetings, and trainings
Ensure the program meets health and safety standards and ensure the safety of all members
Conduct daily Health & Safety Check and complete the Maintenance Request
Provide direct supervision of children and ensure to meet the required ratio at all times
Complete the Accident/Incident/Illness report and notify the parents
Take actions to prevent accidents and respond to injury and signs of illness
Ensure emergency procedures are implemented and followed
Implement the safe and quality food service in the program
Practice sound judgment regarding health and safety
- Ensure a productive work environment by working as a member of the team, contribute to team meetings and provide information to support decision making
Follow program schedule, polices, and procedures
Approach classroom team with assertiveness, address concerns, and solve problems
Participate in Professional Learning Community and Planning meetings
Build and maintain partnerships with children and families, and community partners
Adept at conflict resolution strategies between children, families and staff with a display of confidence
Communicate with management and teaching team about child’s day, experiences, progress, and concerns
Communicate with parents about child’s day and experiences, completes daily report
Maintain close, daily contact with staff, members and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines and instructions and advise and counsel
Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, members and their families, BGCGG partners and others to promote and ensure the program is successful

Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Comply with the Federal, State and Private funding: desired results, US Department of Agriculture Child Care Food Program, and Quality Starts OC
Improve personal teaching strategies through short and long term goal setting
Contribute ideas and participate as a member of a high performing team
Continually develop own knowledge, skills and manages time and resources
Use resources effectively to assist with classroom environment and lesson planning
Attend meetings and trainings as necessary
Work to support all BGCGG as needed
Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
At least 12 college units including Child Development, Child, Family & Community and Program/Curriculum units AND obtains Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or permit application is pending status
50 days of 3+hr/day of teaching experience (in appropriate age group) within 2 years at the Licensed Child Care
3 college units in Infant/Toddler
Experience with Title 22
Experience with Title V, Quality Starts OC, Child Care Food Program preferred
Must complete 21 hours of professional growth hours annually
Must have knowledge of child development, early childhood education and developmentally appropriate activities
Must effectively communicate including verbal, written, in small and large group settings with children and adults
Must have strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport
Bilingual capabilities preferred
Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, walking, jumping, twisting of neck – side to side, rotation, flexion of neck- looking down, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; weight bearing activities – position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-40 pound
Must clear screening process, background check and onboarding process
