$2,500 hiring bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.
Providence is seeking Full-Time and On-Call Teachers to join our team of compassionate, reliable and open-hearted Early Childhood educators at Providence Mount St. Vincent's Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC). We are a play-based and social/emotional focused program that puts relationships at the center of our work. Our program has won awards and is internationally recognized for its intergenerational efforts - offering childcare within a skilled nursing facility provides people of all ages a chance to learn, grow and understand one another.

Roles available:
  • Baby Room Teacher, Full-Time (classroom: 8 children & 3.5 co-teachers)
  • Toddler Room Teacher, Full-Time (classroom: 14 children & 3 co-teachers)
  • Preschool Teacher, Full-Time (classroom: 20 children & 3 co-teachers)
  • On-Call Teacher (various classrooms)

In this position you will:
  • Be responsible for the overall care of children in the Intergenerational Learning Center. This includes the planning and implementation of stimulating and challenging indoor and outdoor daily activities.
  • Plan intergenerational activities and nurturing interactions between elderly residents and children.
  • Use appropriate interactive strategies per approved guidelines; For example: Using active listening, helping children learn to problem solve through negotiation and encouragement of child's own thinking.

Required qualifications for this position include:
  • Prior to first day of hire:
    1. Must create a MERIT Account and Apply for STARS ID at dcyf.wa.gov/services/earlylearning-profdev/merit
    2. Apply for and complete a Portable Background Check through the DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Family) MERIT system
  • Within 30 days of hire, must complete a STARs Basic Child Care Center Certificate or equivalent as determined by program manager.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Completion of CDA or Initial Certificate (12 credits)
  • 2 years of experience working with children ages birth to 5 years

About the Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC):
The Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC) is an award-winning childcare program located in West Seattle, WA. Our program is unique in that interaction between the infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children and the 400 elderly residents of Providence Mount St. Vincent is an integral part of daily activities. This enhances the opportunities for children and people of all ages to have frequent community interaction. Our program includes a philosophy based on problem-solving, where teachers act as facilitators and guides encouraging children to think of solutions to problems that may arise throughout their day.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

About the Team
Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.
HCC provides a full range of services and support for people of all ages, especially those facing chronic or life-limiting illnesses. Our core competencies include restorative care, longitudinal care and care through the end of life. Our service lines include assisted living/skilled nursing/rehabilitation, home health, home infusion/pharmacy services, home medical equipment, hospice and palliative care, Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), personal home services/private duty care and supportive housing.
