About Us
The Arc of Augusta is a small nonprofit organization that provides services in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County. Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and one way we do that is by offering Community Engagement services. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a critical role in this step and as such, we strive to show our appreciation through a great starting pay, paid training and a supportive leadership. Please note: this is an in the field job, you will be out in the community your entire shift.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities by going into the community and building relationships with others.
- Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, safety skills, and communication while participating in community activities.
- Implement behavior management strategies and support individuals in developing appropriate social skills.
- Support individuals in attending and participating in volunteer activities, outings and community activities.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or education in developmental disabilities is required.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals, families, and team members.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality.
-Safe and reliable transportation with car insurance (use your own car, mileage reimbursed weekly).
-Pass a background check and driving record check.
