Job Description
Wilson's Residential Homes is seeking to employ experienced DSP's to work 1:1 with our clients. This includes but not limited to ADL's such as hygiene, eating, toileting, community engagement and money management skills. They will be responsible for but not limited to; monitoring and notating health concerns with proper documentation, washing laundry as needed, and to provide transportation for individuals with our company van or their personal vehicle for planned outings, doctor appointments or store runs. Also to maintain facility cleanliness and prepare meals. Complete documentation in accordance with all applicable standards. Scheduling includes working on some holidays, weekends and during inclement weather.
Role and Responsibilities:
Direct Support Professionals who provide Non-Center Based Day Support Services report to the Direct Support Professional Supervisor (Program Manager). These DSPs will:
- Collaborate with the DSP Supervisor and the individual to tailor and implement personalized activity plans to meet the diverse needs of each participant.
- Provide adept hands-on assistance for daily living activities and personal care, ensuring individual comfort and well-being.
- Facilitate skills development through creative and targeted training programs, adapting strategies to individual learning styles.
- Plan and participate in community outings, showcasing the ability to foster social inclusion and adapt to diverse environments.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Conduct regular activity assessments, demonstrating analytical skills to track individual progress and adjust support strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of participant records and progress reports, demonstrating organizational proficiency.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Communicate proactively with individuals, their families, and team members, exhibiting strong communication skills.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Prior experience or willingness to acquire skills to provide quality supports for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to provide compassion, empathy and patience and act with integrity and high regard for ethics in a variety of challenging environments, including with participants, co-workers, supervisors and the community.
- Ability to remain calm and use critical thinking skills during an emergency or unplanned events.
- Must maintain a current standing as DSP, including but not limited to trainings and competencies
- Proficient in punctuality, time management and planning skills
- Proficient typing and computer skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Background Reviews
All staff must pass DBHDS and Central Registry background reviews. Anyone who does not receive a background clearance has the right to appeal through the DBHDS appeals process. Staff with driving responsibilities must maintain a current driver’s license and clear driving record and proper insurance.
Physical Requirements: Daily use of company vehicle for driving within the local community and scheduled trips, that may be local, regional or overnight. At variable times, there may be extended periods of standing, the need to lift and carry items up to 15 to 20 lbs., and engage in repetitive motions.
Rates & Benefits:
- Starting Rate: $16.00 per hour
- Staff Classifications: Full-time, Part-time (20 hours or less weekly), PRN (as needed)
