Job Description:
The DOJ Accredited Representative will be employed full-time under the Office for New Americans grant-funded program. They will provide direct service to refugee and immigrant clients and will also provide support to Staff Attorneys/ONA Legal Counsels. The DOJ Accredited Representative will assist in carrying out specific grant objectives and will work to advance the mission of Journey’s End Refugee Services.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct representation on immigration cases before USCIS
- Assist attorneys in the organization and facilitation of legal consultation days, legal clinics, community information sessions, and Know Your Rights trainings across the Finger Lakes Region
- Assist attorneys through preparation and research related to immigration filings with USCIS
- Provide intake to prospective clients seeking immigration legal services
- Provide referrals to appropriate internal agency programs or partner agencies to meet law-related and other client needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- DOJ Accreditation (partial), or be willing to pursue DOJ accreditation through attending required trainings and completing the required application process
- Relevant office experience (including filing, letter-drafting, data entry, completion of organizational tasks in a timely manner, etc.)
- Enthusiasm to work on a dynamic and fast-paced Rapid Response Project
- Able and willing to travel to Buffalo office and throughout counties of Finger Lakes region as needed
