Big Muddy Adventures connects people with the region’s waterways, trails, and public lands through recreation and education. Located on Post Dispatch Lake in Forest Park, St. Louis, Big Muddy Adventures at the Boathouse provides individuals and groups with access to bike, paddle boats, kayak, canoe, and stand up paddle board rentals, as well as expert guidance for delightful paddling experiences.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a friendly, enthusiastic individual to join our team as a part-time, seasonal Dock Worker. This fun position offers the opportunity to work outside and interact with customers and fellow crew members as you assist with rentals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with boat rental inquiries, occasional group reservations, and payments.
- Assist in loading and unloading boats.
- Provide safety briefings and instructions to customers on the proper use of equipment, safety protocols, and PFDs.
- Ensure all rental equipment and boats are in good working condition, clean and properly stored.
- Uphold company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all customers.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dock, office, and surrounding areas.
Qualifications:
- Although intentional swimming is discouraged, qualified candidates must be able to swim should they fall in the lake.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor environment in a variety of conditions and capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment.
- Customer service experience is a bonus, but not required. This position offers on the job learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of boating safety practices and procedures is a bonus.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
