Northrop Grumman Space Sector (NGSP) sector is seeking a Division Security Director to lead security operations for our Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) Division and will be located at our Baltimore, MD site. This position will report directly to the Space Sector Security Director.

The PGS Security Director will oversee Northrop Grumman’s PGS programs and provide both strategic and tactical security program guidance to enable the business while maintaining a compliant security program. This position will interact internally with program leadership and externally with senior members of customer security and policy executives to ensure the Division's strategy keeps pace with the government’s expectations.

As a direct report to Director, Space Sector Security, the PGS Security Director, will be an innovative leader who can drive the Division security strategy and implementation to its next level of maturity. The PGS Security Director will partner closely with our government customers, business partners and internal customers. This individual must establish a forward leaning and sustainable strategy that is aligned to business objectives. It will be important the Security Director, PGS effectively delivers and executes a strategy that will maintain the integrity of the business and the clients they serve.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Continuously assessing needs; developing, implementing, and monitoring program security strategy for Programs within the PGS Division.
  • Collaborate with other Northrop Grumman Security personnel and Sectors for uniform Northrop Grumman policy and consistency.
  • Building strong relationships and partnering closely with senior leadership, especially within the security and information technology organizations and across the Northrop Grumman enterprise.
  • Promoting strategic relationships between internal resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
  • Engaging in special programs best-practice sharing with peer organizations and executive briefings.
  • Developing the Divisions security team to grow to its next level of maturity and scalability.
  • Recruiting, training, and retaining a world class security team with particular focus on building a bench of best-in-class special programs leaders for the future.
  • Creating energy and enthusiasm at all levels.
  • Working collaboratively with the various operating units to understand security issues, negative trends, and/or compliance challenges and, when required, interact with the government, on behalf of the Division, to address issues.
  • Accountable for ensuring that overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards are met.

  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals. Project management skills; financial/budget management, scheduling, and resource management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant security experience with a minimum of 5 years at the senior management and/or supervisory level; experience in defense and intelligence special programs is a priority.
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Candidate must have and be able to maintain, an active U.S. Government final security clearance at the Top-Secret/SCI level with a background investigation dated within the last 6 years or be enrolled in the DoD trusted workforce continuous evaluation program.
  • Cross-functional experience with demonstrated success leading transformation change in large organizations is a priority.
  • Experience communicating security related concepts to a broad range of technical and nontechnical audiences; will have to be an articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior leadership team.
  • Experience successfully implementing change.
  • Experience identifying corporate policies, processes, and procedures that are not optimally aligned with business objectives and recommending and implementing changes.
  • A track record of assessing threat and vulnerability from a business as well as a technical perspective and the ability to develop and champion affordable, efficient, and timely security architectures and solutions that support growth of the Divisions business.
  • Understanding of program protection.
  • Thorough understanding of special programs, including government governance models, policy, compliance, and existing and planned government infrastructure, applications, and tools that may be leveraged by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree and 12 years of experience in Industrial Security, to include 8 years in management with experience managing multiple programs/locations.
  • Proven ability and experience working with US Government security leadership in DOD and IC security programs.
  • Experience and direct participation with Government/Industry Security Organizations (ISWG, NDIA, AIA, NCMS, etc.).
  • Possess a breadth of demonstrated business, financial and management skills, knowledge and abilities.
Salary Range: $150,400 - $225,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
