The District Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely fund-level financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement (after completion of training), Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. PFM's Orlando East location is on Quadrangle Boulevard near UCF.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements and budget to actual report
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Payables
- Receivables
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end close processes
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Continuous management and support of budget activities
- Prepare for annual financial audit and correspond with auditor
- Correspond with property owners regarding non-ad valorem assessments
- Any other tasks required to carry out the accounting function
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Three to five years of government accounting experience
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
- Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications
